The NHS 111 team can also help you to make an appointment to attend urgent treatment centres and minor injuries units in Leeds. This includes the Shakespeare primary care Walk-in Centre is open every day 8am-8pm. - Urgent Treatment Centres at St George’s Centre, Middleton, and Wharfdale Hospital, Otley, are open every day 8am-11pm. - Find a list of local pharmacies here: nhs.uk/service-search… Your local pharmacy can provide expert, confidential advice and treatment, and there is no need for an appointment. Our Emergency Departments are always busy, and our teams manage this really well but there are long waits at the moment. If you are not seriously ill, our hospitals may not be the best place for you to get the treatment you need. For people who need immediate medical help where it isn’t an emergency, NHS 111 is available on the phone and online 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week. Minor injury units or walk-in centres can help with injuries or illnesses where people cannot get a GP appointment or it’s not an emergency. Local pharmacists can also give advice on illnesses and the medicines needed to treat them. Information about where to find help in Leeds can be found here: leedsth.nhs.uk/stay-well Thank you for your support

Something we really focus on is patient care and last week we were lucky enough to sit down with the @MyiED Pharmacist from @LeedsHospitals who talked to us about the importance of bringing patients medication to hospital with them when transported by ambulance. #MISSED @AACE_org

Our hospitals are under significant pressure. Please only attend Emergency Departments with life-threatening emergencies. For anything else call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk or think about these services: Shakespeare primary care Walk-in Centre is open every day 8am-8pm. Urgent Treatment Centres at St George’s Centre, Middleton, and Wharfdale Hospital, Otley, are open every day 8am-11pm. Please be careful if you’re heading out on the town tonight so you don’t end up needing our help and taking vital resources away from people in a life-threatening emergency #drinkresponsibly

Did you know? Last year 36.7% of patients who called 999 and received a response from us did not need to be taken to hospital by ambulance because it was more appropriate for them to receive the care they needed elsewhere or they did not require further treatment.

Our @yas_charity is supporting colleagues working on Christmas Day with welfare packages. Communications Assistant Lewis is giving out the food and drink in our Emergency Operations Centre. “Both my parents work at YAS on Christmas Day so I am more than happy to give my time."

Dan's message this Christmas is to use our services wisely and keep emergency ambulances available for those in a serious or life-threatening condition. Please consider 111.nhs.uk, an Urgent Treatment Centre, your GP or local pharmacy for other health needs.

So the last three years have taught me so much but the biggest lesson is that I have learnt the kind of job I really want and today I was lucky enough to get it. Excited to be heading back to surgery and the pancreatic services. @LTHTAMS

No longer need an ambulance or making your own way to hospital? Please call us back on 999 to let us know. Our crews can then be redirected to other patients in need. Do not call us back to ask about an estimated arrival time.
