Hurray for Ferndale! Duplexes are allowed by right citywide! Triplexes and quadplexes are allowed by special land use in the lowest density districts (R1). This is a big win for housing abundance and affordability!

Tonight’s special master plan meeting was much more sparsely attended than last night’s and much more evenly split between supporters and opponents of the plan. It was so awesome to hear so many people saying YES to housing in Royal Oak. THANK YOU!

I’d like this city to to think about and plan for things that young people want, so they don’t move to a different state, but this town hall is here to answer questions like “what if someone builds too close to the edge of their own property line” I guess.
