As National #WaterSafetyMonth comes to a close, we have one final tip to share. Even if you're a great swimmer, a panicked person can pull you underwater. Remember the “reach, throw, don’t go” concept of using a long object or rope to pull a swimmer in trouble to safety.

Today's tip for staying safe in and around the water is simple: Wear a life jacket. Inexperienced and non-swimmers especially should always wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket. #WaterSafetyMonth

Make sure children in the water are actively supervised at all times. Teach them to only swim where a lifeguard is on duty or where a responsible adult is watching without distractions. #WaterSafetyMonth
