But it can take the shape of a curse, arriving all at once and leaving nothing but destruction behind.
In Mozambique, nearly one million people were displaced when the Limpopo burst its banks. The same resource that sustains life is becoming one of its greatest threats.
This is not bad luck. It is the consequence of decades of unchecked emissions from the world's wealthiest nations.
On #WorldWaterDay, let's remember that water doesn't turn on us. We turn on each other, by refusing to answer for the damage we cause.
