Today we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day & celebrate the cultures, contributions & resiliency of the First Nations, Inuit & Métis peoples of Turtle Island. NIPD falls on June 21 because of the significance of the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year.

So in my "welcome post" for my Gr. 9s, I made sure to mention that we would figure out all the inevitable challenges of this term together. Kid replies: "So you've got our back, sir?" I reply: "Always." He replies: "Same for you then. Word is bond." And now my life is complete.
