Today, staff have worked with our second year students on their pending transition to final year of their degree. We all want to be in the best place possible to produce excellent collaborative projects, dissertations, and creative work!

This week we have been filming performances around campus for various projects – it’s been great to showcase different student ensembles!

We’re pleased to be announcing Co-Create, a one-day festival produced by York St John University that celebrates the making of music, dance and theatre with, for and by members of the youth community. If you work with 14–19 year olds, email co-create@yorksj.ac.uk to learn more!

Well done to our first year students for the first group of drumming assessments - involving taiko, found sounds, Western instruments, and gamelan!

Yesterday saw our preview performance of ‘The Hour of Lead’, one of the two pieces we’re hoping to perform at this autumn’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. More details to come through the summer!

Our second year solo performers are beginning their assessments, with some choosing to play in person and some recording themselves. We’re pleased to be able to offer them a choice!

Congratulations to our third year students submitting their Collaborative Projects today. It’s the peak of their practical work on the course, and this year includes many performances, a newly-designed guitar pedal, film music, a smartphone app, and a live RPG soundtrack!

Good luck to our first year students on their solo performance assessments this morning. It’s phenomenal how much they’ve developed this year! Such a good group.
