@Tizleton @zoomerbread @weedhitter This is just an extension of the same critique gamers have had of RDR2, "simulated horse testicles". I'm just instead applying it to the ultraviolence prevalent in just about every corner of everywhere.

@Tizleton @zoomerbread @weedhitter Did you not read the preface, "tangential"? Also you go and look at GTA 6 leaked footage of pedestrians, you tell me thats the same as San Andreas with a straight face. The RAGE engine models NPC personalities and "human-like behavior"!

@Tizleton @zoomerbread @weedhitter Its the Tolkien Orc Problem. You need nameless "things" to slaughter by the dozen or even thousand. In GTA 3, you can call those NPCs "Orcs" quite clearly, but by even GTA 5? The simulated violence is very clear and, like I said, lacks the actual political tones that worked.

@Tizleton @zoomerbread @weedhitter NPCs have "better reactions than ever before", according to leaks. They react to you pulling out guns, they react to you pointing them at them, screaming in terror. You say "what are you talking about". You know, and you're indicted by what I said.

@zoomerbread @weedhitter Seems tangential, but this is why I hate GTA 6. "Florida Man" already ignores the conditions causing that archetype to exist. GTA6 will render these conditions in 4K RTX On but with none of the political bite earned in Vice City or San Andreas.

@meltheatist @__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology Because then HAE is nothing but personal taste, subjective. Just like anything to do with personal aesthetics, there is no standard to be held to. You cannot derive a moral standard from an individual moral/ethical choice, like AI use.

@meltheatist @__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology Ok so we both agree, art doesn't have objective solutions. You believe it takes the "human authentic experience". If the "HAE" argument only applies when there's no objective standard to be held to, the argument was never about "HAE" at all.

@__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology We've jumped from AI tools in music production and visual art to "AI robot wife" territory. I believe this conversation is over. You've not answered my question twice now. You just reasserted the point I already made. "its anti-human and dumb"

@YWRSTL @HugeLeters @HoodBiology why not apply it to relationships and date and marry AI and then let it raise our kids? because it’s anti-human and dumb would you marry an AI robot wife if the technology existed?

@__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology You brought up the surgery robot. Wonderful example because everyone understands the function of the robot. It assists towards the goal of completing a surgery proper. That robot was built off the collective knowledge of science and engineering, why not apply it to the arts?

@__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology Even in this tweet you contradict yourself. You list out technological progress and how it's changed art, simply. However, there is an assumption of "authentic human experience" that somehow is lost specifically with AI. Not with photography, not with DAWs, not with multitracks

@__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology Id even lean and agree with the guy you're replying to. Every idea or concept, functional or artistic, was inspired and built off previous ideas that was built off previous ideas and so on

@__Siffa @HugeLeters @HoodBiology I argued this before (check my account replies) but yes, some art is functional. We got rid of session musicians for drum machines, DAWs and programmers. Are you upset that artists use these tools the same way a photo editor uses their algorithimic tools in photoshop?

@its_adamneely @dreamyoungstar @ulises_johnson_ You are in a position where "community" is possible. Your specific argument around "community solidarity" is harmful because it obscures the reality; who controls the tool, how will artists continue to make a living in a changing world, what purposes are the tool used for?

adam neely saying musicians who use AI betray their communities is the kind of purity test that kills movements. musicians are broke BECAUSE the industry failed them. blaming artists adam neely saying musicians who use AI betray their communities is the kind of purity test that kills movements. musicians are broke BECAUSE the industry failed them. blaming artists for surviving instead of the system that made them desperate is backwardsfor surviving with new tools instead of the system that made them desperate is backwards

@dreamyoungstar @its_adamneely @ulises_johnson_ People adapted afterwards and music and the creative process still went on. The TR-808 didn't kill music, it just changed what was possible by humans, ones with actual creativity. The argument with AI should be about the agency of the artist. The tool has always participated.

@dreamyoungstar @its_adamneely @ulises_johnson_ Ok but even this statement acts like the "creative process" is a single, untenable, Platonic idea that exists throughout space-time. It changes, like anything, but moreso with changes in actual production. "Creative process" covers; Western notation, multitracks, DAWs, AI(?)
