@PPDPPL_art The creator being Japanese probably helps, and it was created to promote a positive image of the Japanese after WWII. And while the squinting eyes prob won't fly today, the Hashimoto family has such charming designs, and I could see them being side characters in Okami

this is a character I was entirely unaware of, but it's interesting! obviously less than ideal representation of japan, but considering it was less than 20 years from ww2, the fact the family is shown overall as normal and with actual names is already kinda impressive

@MoonShark4 I guess Zaigorg's origins make it hard to bring him back, kinda like Magata no Orochi Headcanon: Gorg Dorako & Silvergon probably look like this - inverted colors of Dorako & King Silvergon - black and white (motif: Heibai Wuchang) - Dorako has the whip hand in concept art

@YanChunChan1 Yeah it sucks, Zaigorg was awesome Id love to see him again sometime, Snake darkness was cool but I dont think he was worth the sacrifice of Zaigorg. I really wish we also got the Gorg dorako & silvergon too though, they sounded super cool

Jokes aside one of the most underrated Kaiju of all time, Gorg Fire Golza has been one of my favorite Kaiju designs since the X Movie came out Easily my favorite Golza design too, the blue & black color combo go together so good, Wish there was a loop around to bring him back

@SOUNDWIFE The answer is surprisingly mundane, TFwiki states the designers were inspired by Steel Jeeg, where the hero transforms into Jeeg's head. I think Jeeg itself is an extension of Mazinger's Pilder, since both were created by Go Nagai

@Kairito10 We need a new TF work where Optimus lets Rodimus keep the Matrix. I feel modern audiences would love Rodimus, he's snarky but also has relatable insecurities, and a proper attempt at adapting him could make him popular

To this day I think Rodimus returning the matrix to Optimus is still one of the worst moments in tf history and sends a terrible message to the audience.

🧵 Trider G7 goes to Bethlehem, part 1: In 1980s Italy, the anime boom was massive. It was so big that Italian children's magazines rode the wave by publishing completely original, unofficial mecha stories created by local authors. This one in particular has always cracked me up. It features Trider G7 helping Joseph and Mary find a place to give birth, before calling in X-Bomber to warm up the stable with its lasers, joined by other mecha, including Zambot 3, Godsigma and Gundam! 😅 It's obviously only in Italian, but you can easily translate it with modern apps.

Rewatching a bit of Ultraman Omega, I'll say the whole vibe felt very Gridman-like, due to the location being taken in the same place. Not to mention, the much smaller cast, remind me a lot of Naoto, Ippei and Yuka.

I've never really understood why people constantly talk about things they don't like. To me, it's a waste of time. Criticism is good but only if it reaches the people who created the stuff you don‘t like... and saying "that's crap" isn't real criticism. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think we talk about My Home Is Earth enough. Yes it is one of if not the most highly regarded and constantly talked about episodes of Ultraman ever, and yet it's still not enough, I don't think it's possible to ever talk enough about something so truly incredible
