If it were one of my family members, I’d probably kill that boxer on the spot, burn him alive, and gouge out his eyes. That’s the raw, animalistic, savage instinct that can take over a person in a situation like this. I might even react that way myself toward the boxer. But as an impartial judge, detached from the parties and seeking to deliver real justice…and if the Turkish Penal Code weren’t so harsh, I wouldn’t give him life in prison. I’d hand down a heavy, proportionate sentence instead: many years behind bars.

A Turkish boxer murdered a florist in cold blood by punching him so hard that it shattered his skull. The victim’s sister had the audacity to share a photo of the fighter’s wife’s floral bouquet on the shop’s Instagram page. The woman got mad about it and sent her husband to confront the florist. The fighter lost his temper the instant the victim walked in and killed him on the spot. The florist had no idea anything was wrong.
