George Lombard’s Triple-A debut was pure excitement. Patience, power, and high IQ baseball is what this kid is about. Full thoughts in the post 👇 patreon.com/posts/george-l…

@TheMahiMike Yea, we’ll get the “we felt he was ready to contribute” line.

@YankeeSource The yankees can always act like they were simply giving volpe more time while caballero was playing well. At any point they call him back up they just say he looked all the way back from injury.

Disagree with this. The Yankees have more control over Volpe. They should only deal him when the value is right. It's better to wait and maximize that at this point, and he's also a SS option if Caballero hits a wall or gets hurt. They don't need to do Volpe any favors.
John Goselin@Gos3169

@YankeeSource If you don’t think Volpe is the guy so be it. Cut him loose. He has played in the majors multiple years. He is not a developmental guy. If you want Caballero until Lombard is ready, great. Trade Volpe, dfa’m or whatever but let the man get on with his life post-Yankees.

@KyleSilbert Yea. Cabby needs to sustain this and it's not that easy. So far so good though.

@YankeeSource Completely understand that for. Going to be interesting to see how they navigate it if Cabby slides. Especially with Stanton coming back and if Dominguez plays well. Then someone will be the odd man out

@KyleSilbert In Caballero’s last 12 G (46PA) .302/.348/.535 I would think he will have a bigger window considering how strong his defense has been.

@YankeeSource At what point does Cabby lose the job. He had a great 10 game stretch which earned him the starting job (rightfully so) but has been dog shit the last 7 games. If he has another bad week and this is now a major slump does he get extended run?

@YankeeSource George Lombard Jr. is ranked number 1 on this list and is still somehow too low!

Jack Cebert is probably going to move into the Top 7 by July. Cunningham does not have as strong an arsenal.

@RabidW00kie Yep. It would also be difficult to swap back to Caballero of they took that route.

The Volpe supporters need to understand that he had his shot with this team and he lost that. The ones supporting Caballero just want to win games (which they are with him at short). In the end, I think both sides want GLJ at short sooner than later.

Initially I thought Cebert was more of a reliever, but his fastball variations are solid and he's only going to improve. He has starter potential.

@YankeeSource Rooting for the kid Do you see cerbert as more a starter or reliever if he made it to the bigs ?

Grable’s command and north-south arsenal creates a lot of deception. It's impressive to watch him work an inning, and he's just starting. More risk with relievers, but he has that closer mentality and stuff.
Matthew Desena@DesenaMatthew

@YankeeSource What about him do you think gives him the elite reliever potential? He throws 96-97 right? Is his repertoire + command just really impressive for a young arm

Grable is 23rd and rising fast as well. The reliever tag does hurt his rankings when he's competing against position players and starters. He has the potential to be an elite reliever so it's not going to slow him down too much.

@jj20251996 This isn't true. Having that kind of game power isn't easy.

@YankeeSource *when he makes contact* that right there is why most prospects fail lol. Having power is easy.

It's hard to keep this kid in the park if he makes contact. Luciano has some of the best power you’ll see at any level.

Spencer Jones is 2 for 3, 2 HR, 5RBI Wondering if he could be in play if Rice has to miss time. Bellinger at first with Jones in the OF could be an option. Hopefully Rice can avoid an IL stint.
