I agree with the Devers trade, but then turning around and refusing to give a guy a NTC after trading your two most recent superstars is stingy and not a good look. I don’t think Bregman will be very good offensively on the Cubs, but he would have been worth it in Fenway. Especially with the current IF situation.

@YankeesStats @_24kin He’s under contract for eight more years, not five, and he’s only going to be worth 3 wins for 1-2 more years. It’s a scary offensive profile with zero defensive value. One of the worst contracts in the sport.

@Razorfin_Hunter @_24kin $30M over 5 years? Isn’t $/war around $10M now? I think a lot of projection systems would have put him right around that, if he were to be playing in fenway. Also, sometimes you have to overpay for someone to anchor you down, instead its now Contreras, Mayer, Story, and Durbin.

@Razorfin_Hunter @_24kin Yes, but being unwilling to eat the back end of a contract for the good of the front end is not good business if your internal models project the $/war to be worth it.

Man Ryan Weathers has really struggled this Spring Training. Just gave up a nuke to Dalton Varsho in the 1st inning. The stuff is exciting, the upside is obvious and everyone knows it. But I feel like everyone's gotta temper their expectations for him a little bit. I'm seeing him thrown into Dark Horse Cy Young convos and it just feels silly. He's yet to throw above 100 IP in any season and he's still a project arm at the end of the day. The NYY pitching dev is strong enough to be confident they can get him right but I think it's delusional to think he's going to take such a jump out of ST this year.

@ParksideHowHow1 Had the highest WPA/LI in baseball last year, and according to baseball reference has a .964 OPS in high leverage in his career.
