Let’s be honest - when a player accepts a walk-on spot at a D1 program, we need to stop acting like it’s a full scholarship. It’s not, and pretending otherwise sets a terrible standard for younger players who start comparing themselves to something that isn’t real. There’s nothing wrong with being a walk-on - it’s an opportunity. But calling it something it’s not only creates confusion. The reality is, many of these players are at a level that aligns more closely with D3, and that’s okay. Not everyone has to be D1 for it to be a success story.
