مرقوا ٢١ سنة… والذكرى بعدها حيّة. بـ ١٤ شباط ٢٠٠٥، خسر الوطن دولة الرئيس الشهيد رفيق الحريري وخسرت زوجي الشهيد باسل فليحان، الاقتصادي اللامع ورجل الدولة يلي أمضى سنواته الأخيرة حدّ رفيق الحريري، شريك بالرؤية والعمل وإعادة بناء الأمل. ومعن سقط شهداء أبرياء بهداك النهار، وصاروا جزء من جرح بعده محفور بضمير الوطن. من هداك اليوم، باسل قاوم ٦٤ يوم بحروق من الدرجة الثالثة غطّت ٩٥٪ من جسمه، معركة استمر فيها لآخر لحظة. باسل ما كان مجرد وزير. كان فكر استراتيجي، ضمير حي، وصوت حقيقة ما بيساوم. آمن بدولة عادلة وباقتصاد يخدم الناس. واللي عرفه بيعرف إنو الأثر ما بينغتال، بيبقى معيار أخلاقي بالحياة العامة. راينا نور وريان عم يكبروا حاملين إرثه: قوة هادئة، فكر حر، ومحبة ما بتعرف الحقد. الإرث الحقيقي بيكفّي. اللي عاشوا هديك المرحلة بيعرفوا قيمة الرجال والشهداء اللي رحلوا. في أسماء محفورة بوجدان وطن. منذكرهم اليوم بمحبة وامتنان. الله يرحم دولة الرئيس الشهيد رفيق الحريري، زوجي الشهيد باسل فليحان، وكل شهداء هداك اليوم.

L’Homme contre lui-même Les êtres humains sont si convaincus de leur importance, persuadés d’être au centre de tout, alors même que notre présence est brève et fragile. Nous vivons comme si nous allions demeurer, comme si ce que nous construisons, possédons et défendons devait nous définir pour toujours. Nous débattons, nous rivalisons, nous cherchons la reconnaissance, oubliant à quel point le temps passe vite et avec quelle discrétion il nous efface tous. Et puis il y a la guerre. Qu’est-ce que la guerre, sinon des êtres humains qui se détruisent entre eux, rejetant chez l’autre l’image même d’eux-mêmes ? Les mêmes peurs, les mêmes désirs, la même existence fragile, transformés en ennemi. C’est une tragique ironie que de combattre et de tuer ce qui, en essence, ne diffère pas de soi. En réalité, nous sommes bien peu de chose. Un instant dans le temps. Un souffle qui passe. Un nom qui s’effacera, tôt ou tard, dans le silence. Ces mots ne visent pas à nous diminuer, mais à nous éveiller. Car si nous sommes si petits, alors ce qui compte réellement ne peut être ni l’orgueil, ni l’ego, ni l’illusion de permanence. Ce qui demeure, c’est la manière dont nous vivons, dont nous traitons les autres, et la part d’humanité que nous parvenons à préserver dans un monde qui l’oublie si facilement. Rien en nous ne dure, et au bout du chemin, nous rencontrons tous le même destin. La mort vient sans distinction, sans victoire, sans mémoire. Et peut-être la plus profonde des ironies est-elle celle-ci : après tout ce tumulte, toutes ces luttes, toutes ces divisions… il n’existe rien de durable à revendiquer. Ne demeure alors qu’une seule question : comment avons-nous choisi d’être, avant de disparaître.

الإنسان ضدّ حالو لإنسان كتير مقتنع بأهميّتو، وبيفكّر حالو محور كل شي، بس وجودنا بالحقيقة قصير وهشّ. منعيش كأنو رح نبقى، كأنو يلي منبنيه ومنملكو ومندافع عنّو رح يعرّفنا للأبد. منتجادل، منتنافس، ومنركض ورا الاعتراف، وناسيين قديش الوقت بيمشي بسرعة، وبهدوء بيمحي الكل. وبعدين في الحرب. شو هيي الحرب، إذا مش الإنسان عم يقتل الإنسان؟ عم يرفض بالآخر صورتو هوّي بالثاني. نفس الخوف، نفس الرغبات، نفس الوجود الهشّ، بس منحوّلو لعدو. مفارقة موجعة إنّو الإنسان بيقاتل وبيقتل شي ما هوّي بالحقيقة مختلف عنّو. بالحقيقة، نحنا ولا شي كبير. لحظة بوقت. نفس بيمرق. اسم رح يختفي، عاجلًا أو آجلًا، بالصمت. هيدا الحكي مش لنصغّر من حالنا، بل ليوعّينا. لأنو إذا نحنا صغار لهالدرجة، يلي بيهمّ ما بيكون الكبرياء، ولا الأنا، ولا وهم الخلود. يلي بيبقى هو كيف منعيش، كيف منعامل غيرنا، وقدّيش منقدر نحافظ على إنسانيتنا بعالم بينساها بسهولة. نحنا ما في شي فينا بيدوم، وبالآخر كلنا لنفس المصير. الموت بيجي بلا فرق، بلا انتصار، وبلا ذكرى. ويمكن أعمق مفارقة هيي إنّو، بعد كل هالضجيج، كل هالصراعات، وكل هالانقسامات… ما في وجود دائم لنتمسّك فيه. بس بيبقى السؤال، كيف اخترنا نكون، قبل ما نختفي

Human, Against Himself Human beings are so certain of their importance, so convinced they stand at the center of everything, yet our presence is brief and fragile. We live as if we will remain, as if what we build, own, and defend will define us forever. We argue, we compete, we seek recognition, forgetting how quickly time moves and how quietly it erases us all. And then there is war. What is war, if not human beings destroying one another, rejecting in the other the very image of themselves. The same fears, the same desires, the same fragile existence turned into an enemy. It is a tragic irony, to fight and kill what is, in essence, no different from oneself. In reality, we are very little. A moment in time. A passing breath. A name that will fade, sooner or later, into silence. This is not to diminish us, but to awaken us. Because if we are so small, then what truly matters cannot be pride, nor ego, nor the illusion of permanence. What remains is how we live, how we treat others, how much humanity we preserve in a world that so easily forgets it. We are nothing that lasts, and in the end, we all meet the same fate. Death comes without distinction, without victory, without memory. And perhaps the deepest irony of all is this: after all the noise, all the struggles, all the divisions… there is no lasting existence to claim. Only the question of how we chose to be, before we disappeared.

Merci infiniment à Saleh Machnouk pour ce message clair, courageux et poignant. En tant que Libanais, on ne peut qu’approuver chaque mot : Le Liban a déjà trop souffert des choix imposés par d’autres, de l’occupation à l’ingérence permanente. Il est temps que le monde (et surtout les intellectuels moralistes en occident sans parler des colistiers de l’islamisme radical) entende enfin la voix authentique des Libanais qui aspirent à une chose, une paix avec Israël et une liberté qui ne peut être que le fruit d’une libération. 🇱🇧 Alors si la France veut enfin avoir un rôle utile et digne, elle devrait l’écouter. Respect et reconnaissance pour cette prise de position lucide et nécessaire. 🙏

مش كل فكرة لازم نمشي وراها، خصوصي إذا كانت عم تدمّرنا. يمكن القوة الحقيقية تكون بمحل تاني. بكل حرب، الناس بتعتقد إنو عم تدافع عن قضية، عن فكرة، عن حقيقة. بس بين صوت السلاح، في سؤال لازم يوقفنا لحظة: شو عم نبني فعلاً لأولادنا ولمجتمعنا؟ الإيديولوجيات بتوعد بالعظمة، والغضب بيعطي إحساس بالقوة. بس لما يهدأ الغبار… غالباً يلي بيبقى هو الركام. التاريخ علّمنا حقيقة بسيطة: الأفكار بتمرّ، بس المواطنين هنيّي يلي بيبقوا وبيتحمّلوا النتائج. الشجاعة الحقيقية يمكن مش بالتمسّك بالدمار، بل باختيار الشي يلي بيرفع المجتمع. إنو نفكّر بوضوح. إنو نتصرّف بحكمة. وإنو نتحرّك باستراتيجية حتى لو الطريق طويل. مش بس نِتفاعل مع الأحداث، بل نصنع المستقبل. مش نِخضع، بل نبني ونخلق وننتج الخير لمجتمعنا. وكمان تكون عندنا الشجاعة نقول لا لأي شي ممكن يعرّض مواطنينا ومستقبلهم للخطر. لبنان عندو شي كثير دول بتتمنى تملكو: عقل الإنسان اللبناني. الموهبة والإبداع اللبنانيين العالم كله بيستفيد منهم. بالعلم. بالأعمال. وبالابتكار. طيب ليش ما نعرف نقدّر هالشي ببلدنا؟ ليش ما نشجّعو ونحافظ عليه لتطوير مجتمعنا؟ قوة أي بلد مش بحجمو، ولا بعدد سكانو. قوة البلد هي شو بينتج، وشو بيبني، وقديش المجتمع بيعرف يقدّر الخير يلي فيه. نبني. نحمي. ونترك شي أفضل للجيل الجايي. ومن هون غالباً بيبلّش طريق السلام.

Not every idea is worth following, especially when it is destroying us. Perhaps true strength lies elsewhere. In every war, people believe they are defending a cause, an idea, a truth. But in the noise of weapons, one question must stop us. What are we actually building for our children and for our society? Ideologies promise greatness. Anger can feel like strength. But when the dust settles, what often remains are ruins. History has taught us a simple truth. Ideologies pass. Citizens remain and carry the consequences. Real courage may not be in holding on to destruction, but in choosing what elevates a society. To think clearly. To act wisely. To move strategically, even if the road is long. Not simply reacting to events, but shaping the future. Not submitting, but building, creating, and producing good for our society. And also having the courage to say no to anything that endangers its own citizens and their future. Lebanon already has what many nations dream of. The brilliance of its people. Lebanese talent and creativity benefit the entire world. In science. In business. In innovation. So why not value it more at home? Why not encourage it and preserve it for the development of our own country? The strength of a nation is not its size nor the number of its people. It is what it creates. It is what it builds. It is how much a society values the good within itself. To build. To protect. To leave something better for the next generation. And that is where the path to peace begins.

Happy birthday, old man The ‘resistance’ that took you early & drove Lebanon to hell is nearing its end

« La Conférence des oiseaux », de Farid al-Din ‘Attar, grand poème mystique persan, écrit dans la beauté pure de la langue persane, nous éclaire aujourd’hui avec la force d’une lumière qui a traversé les siècles sans rien perdre de son éclat. Le peuple des oiseaux se cherche un roi. Un roi sage, puissant, rayonnant. Cette quête les conduira à traverser sept vallées : la vallée de la quête, de l’amour, de la connaissance, du détachement, de l’unité, de la stupeur, de l’effacement. مش الخطر بالحرب… الخطر إنو تعوّدنا يمكن أخطر شي مش إنو الحرب ممكن تصير… أخطر شي إنو صرنا نعيش التوتر وكأنو صار طبيعي. كل يوم أخبار عن صراعات، عقوبات، خوف، تحذيرات وتحركات عسكرية… ومع الوقت تعوّدنا. صرنا نكفّي حياتنا وكأنو هيدا الضجيج العالمي ما خصّنا. بس الحقيقة إنو العالم عم يتغيّر قدام عيوننا. يمكن الحرب ما بتبلّش بصاروخ، يمكن بتبلّش لما الأمان يصير أقل شوي شوي، ولما القلق يصير جزء من يومياتنا من دون ما ننتبه. اليوم العالم واقف على حافة مرحلة جديدة. مش بالضرورة حرب معلنة… بس أكيد زمن مختلف، فيه خوف أكتر وثقة أقل. السؤال مش مين رح يربح أو يخسر، السؤال إذا نحنا بعدنا قادرين ننتبه قبل ما يصير كل شي واقع مفروض علينا. يمكن الوقت هلّق مش لنخاف… بل لنوعى

Proud beyond words of my son Emile, who today took the Attorney’s Oath before the Supreme Court of the State of New York and is now officially a New York State attorney. Three years ago, everything could have stopped. We went through weeks when the future felt fragile, uncertain, almost suspended. What might have broken many instead revealed his strength. He chose to move forward with unwavering will, relentless determination, and quiet courage. Today is not only a professional milestone. It is a victory of character. A true hero.
