Epic Games has laid off the character artist that designed Fortnite’s Jonesy skin. Vitaliy Naymushin is among 1,000 layoffs that took place today following a downturn in Fortnite engagement.

I’m not calling anyone specifically but quitting the Fortnite community at a time like this is not the right choice right now. We need everyone together now more than ever to speak out against any controversial decisions Epic Games makes. We as a community will only strengthen

@Yaxwyd @TheScringly @vHephaestus @x103p @PopBase They absolutely do need them. They're closing down three Epic made gamemodes alongside the layoffs because they can't support them. What they don't need is to empty their wallet to user made content when Epic should be focused on making THEIR GAME worth playing off its own merits

As much as each layoff of every single person breaks my heart, Evan’s upsets me on a whole different level. Not just because I love the guy but because he was genuinely the backbone of the dev team. He has been here from the very start. He was part of the era when epic was drastically overworking employees during their beta phase when they were pushing an update every single week. He sprung into action on vacations and days off when emergency situations happened. He worked with passion and pride and always expressed excitement for what he and the team cooked up for us. Each of today’s layoffs truly feels like a betrayal but Evan’s feels like a stab in the heart. I don’t really feel like playing Fortnite anymore. 💔

guess who got laid off today! 🫠 i am genuinely so confused and bewildered like, i spent the past week debugging the rivalry system while recovering from pneumonia and just in the past few days i’ve had multiple directors tell me how much they appreciate everything i do

EPIC - FORTNITE NEWS: I have gone through tweets of majority if Fortnite developers, even ones still working at epic I can clearly tell, they are lost. Confused. Broken hearted and feeling down like they just want to take a break, a rest and not even think about this anymore As it was obvious, i see company moral dropping by a lot from here on, layoffs causing many people in Epic Games to lose passion and only work for making money. Cause there might be no point to being passionate anymore And some Fortnite employees might even want to leave Epic Games for somewhere that respects them more. BUT GUESS WHAT? The entire Gaming Industry is a chaos rn, and with many other companies laying off staff too. Its not even guaranteed these people can find a job somewhere good. Fortnite tweeter has not posted anything in a while, charlie wen is quiet as always, and the director of Fortnite BR is completely silent Developers are talking about how they will try to salvage whats left of themselves to hope they can keep Fortnite going for the sake of us the players But you bet they will be going through a crazy emotionally sad, and hard era. That probably will heavily effect the quality of content coming out of Fortnite for a while Fortnite community might have it hard right now. But don’t forget, the people who made Fortnite even exist are suffering more than anyone else at the moment All thanks to a braindead CEO called Tim Sweeney 🫡

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.

Sad news for Epic Games. Hope the efforts to turn things around can work. gamesbeat.com/epic-games-lay…

EPIC GAMES LAYS OFF OVER 1,000 EMPLOYEES "Today we’re laying off over 1000 Epic employees. I'm sorry we're here again. The downturn in Fortnite engagement that started in 2025 means we're spending significantly more than we're making, and we have to make major cuts to keep the company funded. This layoff, together with over $500 million of identified cost savings in contracting, marketing, and closing some open roles puts us in a more stable place."
