@hamber_ber @socialistadri There were many societies where being gay as we know it wasn’t even stigmatized. Certain parts of Polynesia, North America, Melanesia etc. Christian missionaries came over and largely prohibited them and created a world wide framework that ostracized homosexuality.

@socialistadri Homophobia is really common in the Caribbean, people will genuinely avoid interacting with you, and speak about your choice negatively if they find out you’re gay. Im not supporting it but thats just how it is here

A mod in Hasan's community points out that the homophobic behavior that OjaySuave exhibited towards PlaqueBoyMax is NOT indicative of Caribbean people and the Black community as whole. Black people are NOT bigoted and homophobic. This is a common misconception.

@hamber_ber @socialistadri It’s disingenuous to pretend it’s not true, but we can’t frame it as “a particularly Caribbean issue” when the ones who forcefully instilled a homophobic religion and created dangerous conditions where hypermasculinity became an adaption to survive, were white people.

@aifunz That doesn’t even make any logical sense. Using the same logic, should you restrict immigrants from North Korea? Acting as if being from a county you are actively leaving means you support what that country is doing is beyond stupid. Aren’t you American? Guess what America does?

@co0ncuc To be fair, white people don’t even need marriage. The age of consent will be 15-17 (which is the same as most child marriages anyways), and if they want it even younger , they’ll just head on an island to indulge.

@ynwaaaaaa Not really. Most people are atheists. Many peo are just raised in environments where you’re discredited from actually saying it. U think the violent crime rate amongst those in poverty would be high if those people were under the belief that a god was watching them every moment?

@idrcaybysa @seetheproblem @missponkbeds And I doubt anybody actually wants to be straight up touched up their sleep. They just like the idea of waking up to intimacy. But if u slept through the whole thing and the person dipped afterwards you would probably feel creeped out to some degree. Idc who it is

@ThatsMyFloor @SIMPSONSZN @ijimaia It is, since it’s misinformation. They just need different care. There are plenty of children that aren’t disabled that still need far more attention. What do you actually know about Down syndrome? Apart from the stereotypical extreme interpretation of it.

@bigfriedfishy @inawwya -When u could be confronting Elon musk who has been polluting black communities in Memphis, or literally any other influential politican/comedian/podcaster etc that has been spreading prejudice? Wouldn’t that be a bigger focus? Name one influential black figure against white ppl

@bigfriedfishy @inawwya Whether u go online or systemically, you’ll find far more racism initiated by white ppl than the other way around so why confront a random powerless person online about racism(who likely is speaking generally from a systematic standpoint rather than literally every white person)

@bigfriedfishy @inawwya Born what way? U mean complicit in a system that brings everyone (including themselves) down? There’s revisionist history, but racism was left largely ignored after the civil rights era. Even during it, most whites didn’t support mlk who’s portrayed as a universal figure today

@inawwya Random white people are not your oppressor, you’re a delusional bigot using weak semantics to excuse hating people for their skin color.

@Man88162 @inawwya “That had nothing to do with it.” You realize there are Japanese war veterans that walked around unpunished with many of the same people in their government to this day?

@Valeshevik @palevariety3719 Like, compare yeat, to death grips, to Afroman, to OutKast, to Mario Judah, to Danny Brown. These are all rappers that don’t even sound remotely similar.

@Valeshevik @palevariety3719 As someone who listens to both, this isn’t really true. In terms of the amount of sub genres, there’s a lot, but there is still a core element of that make nearly all rock songs sound recognizable to each other. There’s some rap people don’t even realize is rap.
