I have this ability to sense impending doom. It’s been refined over the years from ridiculous hours, hospital cafeteria food, and a keen fascination of the finer points of dying. In no small part it is distilled from those moments I have been in the room just as it is happening.

Imagine living a life so devoid of meaning and principle you allow yourself to yell at and harass schoolchildren for doing something that is none of your damn business.

As my patients get younger, I now watch their children breaking as they die. These kids are younger than my own. It’s a connection that finds the chink in my armour. It pierces me. I must beg you to think one layer beyond yourself, and get vaccinated for your children. Please.
