@KingTargaryenn But… they did! And you can’t accept that. Isn’t it uncomfortable? Your mind racing to lay track in front of the charging elephant of your revulsion? You’ll be okay. White Snape will always be there for you.

Simplemente no encaja.

“The original #HarryPotter movies were perfect, why remake them?” Yeah! They did the same thing with Hamlet. The original actors in nailed it in 1600. Why do remake it over and over? Why would we want to see other artists’ interpretations? It’s nonsense! Nonsense, I say!

@bestofstarwar The narrative became that later. It became cool to bash on them. It wasn’t true. I was there. The theaters I saw TPM in eleven times that summer were full. Cheering. All summer long.

@fantasyfooty Excellent job thoughtfully, passionately, and irrelevantly writing your thesis. It is the scaffolding of logic you must construct—just to say, “I don’t like this casting choice.” Paapa Essiedu is playing the role this time. Full stop.

I'm not against Snape being black in the new Harry Potter series. I'm not against it on principle. There are obviously some pretty awful things and memes being said/shared that are clearly just racist. But it isn't necessarily racist to be a bit annoyed the character has been changed from the book's description, because his appearance carries meaning. 1. Snape is specifically and deliberately described as having "sallow skin" and being "pale." It mirrors the same pale complexion Voldemort has, which is partly why Snape always feels suspicious. They're designed as visual inversions of each other: Snape has a big hooked nose, Voldemort has a flat snakelike one. The whole point of Snape is that he LOOKS like the villain. Everything about his physical description screams untrustworthy. That's Rowling's deliberate misdirection, teaching readers not to judge by appearances. Change the appearance, you risk losing the power of that twist. 2. There's also an irony nobody seems to be talking about. By making Snape the suspicious, untrustworthy, seemingly villainous character AND the only prominent black actor in the cast, you've actually created the exact optics you were presumably trying to avoid. The one black guy is the one everyone's supposed to distrust? How is that progressive? 3. People are making a false equivalence with Hermione being black in the Cursed Child. That's completely fine because the books never say she's white in the text, and it doesn't affect her story either way. Snape's appearance is different. It's written into the plot. 4. The writers now have a real issue down the line. How are they going to portray Snape being bullied when younger? How are they going to portray James Potter suspending Snape upside down with Levicorpus? Surely they aren't going to force racist undertones onto Lupin, Potter, Black and Pettigrew? PLEASE do not turn this into some politically driven TV series where the Marauders' cruelty becomes a racial storyline. That would ruin both Snape AND James.

@Cretaceous935 @TheCinesthetic You may be fatigued, but millions of us still love HP. I’m visiting Leavesden next month, seeing Cursed Child, and excited for the new series. For my daughter (27), HP is her Star Wars. And millions more will discover it through this show, which will drive them to the books.

Are people actually looking forward to more Harry Potter? Forget JK and all the controversy, just look at HP as it's own thing separate from the artist, I'm just wondering hasn't Harry Potter fatigue set in yet. It's just a show about wizards for kids, and we all know the end already. I guess people still like TMNT and transformers, but I haven't watched any of that stuff in ages, and the new Ghostbusters kinda sucks, right? Gave up on Stranger things too, didn't even bother with the last season, couldn't care less about how it ends. I would have liked a season 3 of the Tick on Prime, and I'll probably watch the last season of the boys, but they remixed both of those shows heavily from the original material.

@JamesGunn Dear Oa, what is this awfulness? The lines, the painful lines! "Don't get hung up on the jewelry, junior." "This is my town. You're a big shot. Noted. But stay the $@#$ out of my way." I’ll follow the genre move if the script is there, but this sounded unwatchable for me.

@TheChrisLambert @DCUHypeGuy At least put him directly above her, so he’s protecting her as the rest of the building crumbles around them—but then they wouldn’t be able to have a prolonged Mentos commercial moment. Ooh, give her a moonroof. Boom, problem solved.

It’s an absolutely stupid scene. They told people to evacuate and this is the last car out of the city. It’s a huge contrivance that everyone got out that quickly and the only bad thing that would happen affects a single car. Logistics aside, Superman just looks silly catching the building like that. It lacks majesty. And then you have a moment of majesty but dude is posing lack that after saving a single person when the damage could have affected way more. The airplane sequence in Superman Returns is 100 times better than this

@billybinion Because they’re human. If you hand someone a button and say, “Push this, and you’ll get money,” they’re going to push the button. I can’t judge that. It’s the same mentality of movie studios. Marketing says, “push this button, and you’ll make $1B.” They keep pushing that button.

I’m asking this in good faith: Why is this becoming a thing? Eric Dane’s death is awful & I was really sad to see it. His net worth was widely estimated at several million dollars. I don’t understand why his family needs a GoFundMe.

@RealEmirHan This exposes another flaw with the scene. I never bought that Clark was 17. They should have used the younger actor to sell the tragedy. With Cavill, it looks like one grown dude controlling another grown dude who’s old enough to make his own choices.
