An Edmonton man is facing 28 charges — including human trafficking and bestiality — after ALERT’s Human Trafficking unit wrapped up an investigation spanning nearly a year. Jonathan Allard, 47, was arrested on March 26 with assistance from Edmonton Police Service and is alleged to have recruited, controlled, and sold at least five women for sex in the Edmonton area. Police say the investigation started in June 2025 after one of the alleged victims reported being lured through social media before being forced into the sex trade. The charges include trafficking in persons, forcible confinement, assault, procuring, and multiple counts under the Animal Protection Act — including bestiality and animal neglect — after investigators found evidence a dog had been sexually and physically abused. ALERT says there may be additional victims and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Allard remains in custody and is next scheduled to appear in court on April 16.
