Young Foundations

For the past 9 months 4 students have undertaken voluntary work, adventure activities and water sports in their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze. The students succeeded in the expedition element for the first time at Howard House & achieved their full Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award! 🏆

Howard House School staff devote time to building relationships with our students. We know strong relationships & trust help students feel safe, which in turn supports our students' making positive change. Understanding & encouraging student interests is part of this. #YFValue1

The team at The Daltons said goodbye to senior support worker Kelly last wk. Kelly has worked at The Daltons for over 10 years & has developed strong relationships with all the young people she has supported. Thank you, Kelly, for making a difference to our young people’s lives.

The Howard House School staff versus students football match ended in 1:0 to the staff. Great skill and teamwork was shown by the students who can't wait for a rematch! ⚽️

A young lady from Acrefield attended her 1st concert to see @Pink at @thisisanfield a few weeks ago.👩‍🎤 She made her own Pink concert tshirt & sat amongst thousands of people, overcoming some of her sensory needs, singing to her favourite song "Perfect". Her dream came true! 😍

Big thanks to The @GlasgowClimbing for an unforgettable reward day! Mirren Park students tackled the towering walls and felt on top of the world! 🧗‍♂️🌏 The group learned how to climb effectively whilst securely clipped into safety ropes. We can't wait to visit again!

For the end-of-term celebration, the students of Stafford Hall School visited Blackpool for the day. 🏖 Some of the young people visited the water park, some had fish and chips and a walk along the seafront, and some visited the local train station.🐠 It was a brilliant day!

Stafford Hall School students chose an enrichment activity in the final week of school, visiting Inflatanation in Huddersfield. They enjoyed end-of-year fun whilst developing gross and fine motor skills, showing peer-to-peer communication that we had not seen in the classroom.👍

Pupils at Stafford Hall School planted potatoes, onions, strawberries, tomatoes, and a herb planter in the garden, as well as wildflowers and sweet peas. 🍓 Maintaining a garden requires a lot of maintenance, and our students don’t shy away from getting stuck in with the garden.

For the last two weeks, the students of Stafford Hall School have been completing their adventure days working towards their Duke of Edinburgh award. Alongside den building, nature watching, team games and pond dipping, the students took on a gruelling hike in the summer heat🔥

Howard House Students have returned from their June rewards trips and as always, have had excellent experiences and adventures. 1 student worked particularly well on his targets, and earned a trip to St James's Park. Well done to all our Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum winners

Students of Stafford Hall School have been studying pop art and the work of both #AndyWarhol & #RoyLichtenstein. The students were able to identify similarities and differences between their work and the originals, and the new pieces of art look absolutely stunning on display!

Last week Stafford Hall students enjoyed 'The Lord of the Strings' concert at @VicTheatre. It was great preparation for some of the students performing on the same stage next month during Calderdale Music Voices Together concert #voicestogether #calderdale #victoriatheatre

A Howard House pupil worked with guidance from our new member of staff to plant beautiful roses and Agapanthus to remember his mother. The results are fantastic.

Howard House Students commemorated D-Day. "I learned today they pranked German soldiers by making them think they were attacking a different beach, which was smart.”" I’d never heard of D Day. That is unbelievable, they were either stupid, brave or both. I couldn’t do it!”

At Howard House School we love seeing the progress the students make. This is not just with their skills, but with their confidence and self esteem. This student was so proud of their riding and the praise they received from the instructor!
