Small Yogurt

Alright, I've done a lot of work on the backend, but I think I've set a config that will work for my server. The high traffic was definitely one of the main causes, and my server simply couldn't handle it at the configs I've set before. Without necessarily upgrading the specs, I've forced hard limits and queries to better match what I'm running on instead. My site shouldn't crash anymore, but it will run much slower during high traffic times. A little bit of server side gatekeeping, in a way. I'll monitor it over the next while, but I think I did pretty alright with I have to work with.

I believe my suspicions were true to a degree. My site has been getting hit by more than double the typical traffic over the last 2-3 days for some reason. Probably just enough at once to crash my db. Maybe a bunch of bots or something. I've made some changes and upgrades to the config to see if it helps out.

I might have spoke too soon. It's not working now :(

I'll keep a close eye on it, because it could also be something else entirely. The traffic might only just be part of the problem, not the whole thing.

Site is up, but I'm still monitoring. Can't seem to figure out what's bogging the db. I was hoping to catch it in the act, but it's seemingly behaving now. I do wonder if it's high traffic...

My website is acting up today. It might be down for a bit, but I'll work on it when I get the time. I suspect something my db is bloating up somewhere.

I suppose to close off the month, the biggest highlight would've been my switch to Krita from CSP for my main creative workflows. Both programs have had major updates to them this month. 13 years of CSP and the habits built from it was a challenge to translate to Krita, but I found myself wanting to prove I could do it. It's been a pleasantly smooth transition, especially with the new update. The key was to eliminate as many of my personal pain points where I can. Starting with workspace layouts, followed by shortcuts, identifying tools, brush/resource parity, and finally understanding the difference in layer operations. I almost want to say that I'm as proficient in Krita as I was with CSP, but of course there's always room to learn. However, it's the end result that counts the most. I'm now using a far more stable drawing app for my setup, instead of running one on a shaky config or needing to go back to a Windows install I haven't touched in months.

Perhaps one of my favourite kinds of traditional works I've done in the past were these tiny watercolour paintings! No bigger than 2-3 inches across. This one was my favourite of the bunch, which scene would eventually become the climax to the Childhood Arc in my series!

This isn't really a new feature in the update, but I absolutely love that Krita lets you put reference images just off-canvas so it doesn't interfere with my workflow. I wouldn't need to back out to another window or tab.

Krita 5.3 and 6.0 are out! Only about a week ago was I just playing around with one of the last beta versions. These ones have the new text and comic panel tools that I've been looking forward to.
