Only once these steps are completed should Ethiopia proceed to address complex questions of identity, governance and political grievances through constitutional mechanisms and dialogue. Reversing this sequence risks transforming a path to peace into a new source of contention. 3/

In practical terms, this means that the districts of Welkait, Kafta Humera and Tsegede should be reinstated under Tigray’s administration before wider political or constitutional talks begin—alongside the withdrawal of non‑federal forces and the safe, voluntary return of IDPs. 2/

#Ethiopia: #Tigray TV journalists threaten work stoppage over unpaid February salary ------ 30 Tigray Television journalists have petitioned the Tigray Interim Administration, warning they will be forced to stop working if their February salary remains unpaid. The petition, signed by journalists from the station’s news center, was addressed to the office of Interim Administration President #Tadesse_Worede and delivered in #Mekelle. In the letter, the journalists said they would be “forced to stop working” if their February 2018 Ethiopian calendar salary remains unpaid. Speaking to Addis Standard, Efrem Redahey, a senior producer for Tigrigna content at the station, described the growing financial hardship faced by journalists, saying many staff members are struggling to cover basic expenses. “Our situation has become extremely difficult,” Efrem said. “The transport service provided by the station has also been terminated. If we don’t receive our salary, we cannot even afford to pay for transportation to come to work.” The journalists said they expect a response from the interim administration by Wednesday, 18 March 2026. If no response is received by then, they warned they will stop working. Meanwhile, Tigray Teachers Association said teachers across the region are facing similar economic hardships due to prolonged salary delays. Read More: addisstandard.com/?p=55862
