"Wars, hideous wars" masterclass students designed memorials to highlight the devastating impact of conflict on those who fought & lost and even on those who emerged as winners. Thank you to Miss Bok @BoothamSchool for a fascinating insight into this difficult & emotive topic.

Over in our literary criminology masterclass, with @Barlby_High teacher, Mr Redhead, our students have been learning techniques to assist them in mimicking the specific nuances that makes crime writing so bloodcurdlingly addictive!

ISSP students were today experiencing Einstein's idea that objects move along curves in spacetime, using a gravity-well simulation. Huge thanks to Mr Parr @StPetersYork for delivering a fabulous masterclass programme for our year 9-11 ISSP students.

Accomplished story writing & artistic designs in our 'Postcard Microfiction' masterclass with year 7&8 pupils, led by our fantastic @allsaintsrcyork teacher Miss Taaffe.

"Wars, hideous wars"; stories of conflict from ancient sources. Students in this Yr 9-11 masterclass had a lot of fun selecting their dream team of three generals from antiquity.

Yr 7/8 students who elected for the 'Creative' masterclass pathway are excited to be working with Illustrator & former Cbeebies animator, Marc Godfrey-Murphy. Marc is spending a session with each group, discussing the 12 Principles of Animation #cbeebies

Newton's experiments on the nature of light using prisms produced some beautiful visible spectra in our 'Experiments that changed the world' masterclass this week.

After completing this challenge, creations were hidden & students tried to decipher the destinations; this demonstrated students’ ability to keep the reader guessing yet (as Japanese crime fiction is famous for) leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for our detectives to uncover.

In their criminology masterclass, Yr 9-11 ISSP students were inspired by the popular Japanese crime writing style of ‘honkaku’. Students were tasked to create a crime scene centred around a Japanese landmark & use these locations as inspiration for their own murder mystery scene.

On the Yr 7&8 Creative Pathway, our 2024 theme of 'What is Beauty' was explored through Postcard Poetry,  Microfiction & Art.

In week 1 of our Yr 9-11 Masterclass, 'Experiments that changed the world', the students carried out Galileo’s original water-clock experiment using burettes, and a modern version using air-tracks and light gates to study acceleration @schoolstogether @SchoolPAlliance

March has come around quickly & that can only mean it's Masterclass time! It was fantastic to see the buzz created in 2 of our ISSP schools as 300+ pupils representing all York schools arrived with nervous energy & excitement for the 1st of their 3 wks of classes @schoolstogether

This evening, 100 Yr 7&8 students from across the York ISSP schools are being treated to a fascinating lecture titled ‘“The Brain Squad Series: The Mystery of Letters that turned into Reading." delivered by Dr Elpis Pavlidou from the University of York @schoolstogether

Shining the spotlight on our newest ISSP projects during #partnershipsweek23 including our Researching Women in History project and Intermediate Certificate in Greek both attended by pupils from schools across York #powerofpartnerships #schoolstogether
