Of course it's prudent to build in a buffer for interest rate rises, but combined with the hikes in everything else, it's becoming unfathomable for some. THAT's the point.

@yoddilove @fifisyms @Keir_Starmer Read the small.print...take out a mortgage and your house is at risk if you don't make the payments...That has always been the case. If you cannot afford an interest rate rise you have over extended your self.

They broke the economy, the NHS and the immigration system. Mortgages are £500 a month more expensive and you can’t see your GP. Their answer? “We can’t fix it” It’s time for a Labour government.

@Keir_Starmer Sure, it's built into the small print of our Mortgages, but combine that with the increases everywhere else and it sure does start to become a pinch... Let's not even get started on the cost of childcare, forcing working mums to give up on their careers.

@Keir_Starmer To those saying mortgage costs aren't going up £500 per month, obviously Kier is not saying this is for every household, but for the average household coming to the end of a 2 or 5 year fixed, I can assure you - they are (I am one of those people).
