This week we had the privilege to attend Youth Day in Springfield with 8 high school juniors from across our service territory. Students met with Senator Steve McClure. Elizabeth Hampton from Windsor and Shae Conder from Stewardson were the winners of trip to D.C. in June.

We are happy to announce the promotion of Nick Ray from Lineman to Foreman. He worked for the Operation's Department as summer help in 2013. In December 2014, Nick was hired full time as an Apprentice and achieved Lineman status in 2019. Congrats Nick!

Cooperative recently recognized for outstanding workplace practices. Accepting the safety certificate on behalf of SEC, pictured left to right, are Operations Asst. Amy Peters, Manager of HR and Comp. Diane Bunton, Construction Supt. Brian Chevalier, and Foreman Blake Summers.

This week Shelbyville High School’s Manufacturing Trades class visited the cooperative. Forestry Foreman Luke Brown and Lineman Jamie Sharp spoke with the students about their career path and experiences in the industry. The students also learned the history of the cooperative.

We recently welcomed Jaclyn Frederick to the cooperative family as she was hired as Broadband Office & Warehouse Administrator for ShelbyFiber. She comes to us after working for Caterpillar within their supply chain. Jaclyn is excited for the opportunities this job affords her.

Carmen Kirksey recently accepted the position of Accounts Payable/Accounting Assistant with the cooperative. Previously, Carmen worked for the cooperative’s subsidiary ShelbyFiber as a Broadband Work Order and Material Specialist. She moved to that position in November 2022.
