You have to love the land boundary issue that's been going on, on my land. 😅
If you haven't followed along, here is a quick brief.
The farm I was buying belonged to a man called Austin, Austin sadly died and when he did, someone who lived/backed onto the land decided to steal a 10ft extension to the entire length of their garden. (Lets call this person Bob)
Bob didn't attempt to buy it or conversate it, Bob simple moved their entire fence boundary (concrete posts/wooden fence panels) out into the recently passed farmers field.
The land then went to Austin's sister Dorothy who wasn't well enough to look after the land so entrusted it to be taken care of by a land manager who did! And so it was entrusted to him to take care of any issues, this stolen land debacle being one of them!
So, the land manager warned Bob the land that it's not his to take, removed the fences and thought that was that!
However over the course of time, Bob decided to try and extend their fence line again but this time install a brand new patio that encroached over the boundary!
Now before the land manager was able to sort the issue with Bob, the land was taken over by Dorothy's solicitors who wrote legal letters to Bob to remove the fence or further legal action would be taken.
In between this time, Dorothy sadly passed away and I ended up buying the land, but was made fully aware of this ongoing situation.
So from day one, I tried knocking on Bobs door to try and resolve this by having him simply remove his boundary back to its legal place and that be that.
However Bob wasn't in.
Week... after week... until months later we crossed paths and I asked for the boundary to be reinstated!
I told Bob I didn't want to get involved in any of the drama he'd had with the previous owners, that none of the land was for sale and that I'd like the fence line returning to it's legal and rightful place.
Bob agreed and said he'd put it back to it's original ways, could I give him 4 weeks, so I obliged!
2/3 weeks go by and Bob still hadn't taken care of it but I wasn't worried as he seemed like a genuine guy, regardless of the past drama!
Bob then rang me and said he'd need another 4 weeks to sort the issue to which again, I happily obliged!
Which brings us to where we are today...
Bob has returned the land boundary back, but not to it's rightful place.
Instead, Bob installed a brand new patio into his garden that extended OVER the original boundary line and then decided that this new patio would serve as an entirely NEW made up boundary and so ran a fence along it. No conversation, no negotiation... just did it.
Now we're talking... 10 inches at this point. Not 10ft!
And I would in one mind set say, ohh it's only a few inches at this point...
But this is this is the same guy who had the disrespect to steal land from a dead mans farm... not once, but twice... makes me feel a whole different way about this whole thing.
I did hope Bob would respect the fact that I didn't want any drama and wanted a fresh clean slate with all of this but it seems Bob doesn't care...
So in this circumstance now, where would you go from here?
