Camp Hero, Montauk. Camp Hero was built in 1942 by the U.S. Army as a coastal defense installation during WWII. During the Cold War the radar tower was built to track Soviet missile threats. Decommissioned in 1981, the site is now Camp Hero State Park. #ThrowbackThursday
