ANTHROPIC RUNS A 24/7 MUSIC STREAM AND THE ARTISTS DON'T EVEN KNOW THEY'RE ON IT anthropic launched claude FM, a 24/7 lofi and ambient music livestream on youtube. about 1000 people listening at any given time this guy kept hearing one artist (ben seretan) in heavy rotation. loved the music. found his email and sent him a thank you note the musician's response: "what claude live stream were you watching?" he had no idea his music was on it when the guy explained what claude FM was, the artist said: "i think i'm grateful? but i also think i'm not getting paid?" so anthropic is running a public 24/7 music stream with real artists' music and at least some of those artists have zero clue their work is being used the top theory is that anthropic is licensing through a third party aggregator or stock music service. the artist gets paid a few cents through that service but has no idea where the plays are coming from another theory is youtube's content ID system handles payment automatically so the artist technically gets paid but never knows the specific source either way it's a bit shady a billion dollar AI company running a branded music stream where the featured musicians don't know they're featured
