Are you paying attention yet? The North Atlantic SST anomaly on June 8 was 1.04°C above the 1982-2023 mean. For those keeping track, that's 3.56σ, or 1-in-5400.

On April 23, 2023, the world sea surface temperature (SST between 60°South and 60°North) had been at 21°C or higher for as many as 36 days. Such temperatures are unprecedented in the NOAA record that goes back to 1981. arctic-news.blogspot.com/2023/04/humans…

It's quite something that the world's top scientists put out a synthesis report that essentially says civilization as we know it will end unless the world comes together to stop rapidly expanding the fossil fuel industry but to instead rapidly end it, and almost no one cares

We are beyond unprepared for climate breakdown. We basically haven't even begun to prepare, and world leaders are still actively making it worse by continuing to expand fossil fuels. My friends, it's going to be an insane decade. Not to mention what comes after this decade.

I wish everyone on Earth knew how genuinely "off the charts" key planetary trends are right now, and how abnormal and critical it is. Things like atmospheric CO2 fraction, heat extremes on land and ocean, biodiversity loss and extinction rates. All alarms should be going off

You might think I'm sounding the alarm on climate too loudly, but in a few years you'll wish I'd been able to sound it even louder.

Don't discourage people from cutting their personal greenhouse gas emissions, it's a good thing. Instead, point out how we ALSO need systems to change, and how satisfying it can be to push for that systems change alongside other activists.
