Honestly; the whole goal of the book is to help a reader feel more confident and consider the art and rhetoric of publishing quantitative social science as it is the science. Thank you Yang for noticing.

I am learning a lot from Dr.Cunningham's Causal Inference book @causalinf. The papers he used to explain the methods are extremely helpful: In addition to the statistics, I am learning a lot from them in the strategies to structure my own empirical analysis and present my paper.

This is for the healthcare workers on the frontlines — the Sarabande from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3. Your ability to balance human connection and scientific truth in service of us all gives me hope. #songsofcomfort

Me last week: "The hardest part about teaching the financial crisis is conveying how it felt to stare into the abyss in 2008." 2020: "Hold my beer." They get it now. Told them today to make contingency plans even if they have an offer in hand. (The lesson from 2001.)

I need to teach a group of undergrads born circa 2000 what the financial crisis *was* before digging into the economic lessons (externalities, moral hazard, etc.). Anybody have good slides on how the financial crisis went down? More pictures>less pictures. #econtwitter

@dataandpolitics So help me out bc this came up in a mtg with sheriff and I am new to the ethics of prediction. Say your model found different risk scores by race. How do we know those aren’t accurate? We are studying suicide risk for example. I don’t know that race is irrelevant.
