So, wonder if we will observe strain-induced periodic stratification in front of the Conwy estuary on the @sos_bangor_uni MSc cruise today?

At this difficult time in history, it's worth remembering that nature still has and will continue to have the power to astound us and bring us joy with its beauty. #auroraborealis from my bedroom window tonight.

@helenafricker @newscientist I'm with @helenafricker. This is NOT the way, destroying snow for a little bit more ice thickness? Unscaleable, irresponsible, will interfere with cloud formation. No no no. I declined to comment on this when it was a glint in someone's well-meaning eye. How did it get so far?

@KayMcmonigal I know at AMS they have also had trouble retaining adequate numbers of production staff. So all the non-academic parts of the process have also been slowed down recently

resubmitted a manuscript which had minor reviews and a reputable journal says it could take up to 5.5 weeks from submission to even do a requirement check on it. Doesn’t particularly matter for me but please don’t punish students or applicants for long revisions timelines!!!

Anyone who can go to this event certainly should do so! @icey_mark has so much expertise, knowledge and a real gift in sharing it with us all that it will doubtless be as awe-inspiring as the polar regions themselves!

Join us as we kick off our Inspiring People talks programme on Monday 16th September, with Professor Mark Brandon speaking in Kirkcaldy and Glasgow about the beauty of the poles, why we should save them, and how we can do it. Book now rsgs.org/events

@RalucaRadulesc1 Scientists like me need the arts to inspire and move us and vice versa. The academy is incomplete without our previous humanities.
