“Nuclear energy is increasingly recognised as part of the clean energy transition and that creates new opportunities. What Africa cannot afford is fragmentation. If countries work in isolation, progress will be slow and far more costly. Cooperation on regulation, financing, and regional power integration is essential. This is precisely why NEISA matters.
We are moving the conversation beyond ambition to practical coordination, and financing mechanisms that can sustain deployment at scale. Rwanda will continue supporting these efforts, because this is larger than any one country.” President Kagame | Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA) 2026 - Opening Ceremony

“These pressures, that we get from the rest of the world, Africa is being reminded to wake up. So the pressures are not entirely bad, they force Africa to look within for what we have. To actually do what we need to do to find a good place for us in this world of those injustices and other challenges.
I want people to know that each one of the people in this room and beyond, have something to contribute and to benefit from, benefit each other, and the continent has a lot that is not being put to good use and it is up to us - it is not people from anywhere else, to be able to raise ourselves to that level where we should be.” President Kagame | Opening Ceremony of the Africa CEO Forum 2026 #ACF2026

“Rwanda aims to be a high-income country, by 2050. That requires abundant electricity, and that is why we have decided to make nuclear energy central to our strategy.
Achieving this requires strong institutions, sound regulation, and an educated workforce, and that is the foundation Rwanda is building.
Rwanda is determined to do what it takes, to power our development with nuclear energy, and we look forward to you being a part of this journey.” President Kagame | Nuclear Energy Summit.

Twenty-five years of CBHI (Community-Based Health Insurance) - new reforms expand the benefits package to include specialised and high-cost services such as dialysis, cancer treatment & major surgeries, improving access to quality healthcare while ensuring the scheme’s long-term sustainability. #Mituweli25
“Previously, many people needed these services but simply could not afford them. With the revised premiums, access will improve and quality care will become more affordable for those who need it most.”

25 years ago, Rwanda introduced Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI).
Since then, the scheme has redefined access to healthcare and transformed countless lives.
Today, the CBHI benefits package has expanded even further to include advanced and specialized services such as cancer care, kidney treatment, interventional cardiology, neurosurgical and orthopedic procedures, among others.
Now is the time to further strengthen CBHI and continue building a resilient, high-quality health system for everyone.
