Buffalo would need to create roughly $6M more cap space to acquire Dexter Lawrence’s 2026 salary of $18.5M before restructuring (and likely agreeing to the extension NYG won’t give him)
Not easy, but doable (Dion Dawkins restructure is $11.3M alone)

ESPN sources: Giants All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and he will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that opens Tuesday. Lawrence and the Giants have been through two off seasons attempting to negotiate a contract reflecting his value to the Giants over the last three years, but there has not been any progress, per sources.

A few things on this:
1. Joe Schoen is a bad GM. In 2024, when he decided to “rebuild” the Giants and let Saquon/Mckinney walk he should’ve traded Dex for a haul. Instead, Dexter had an all pro season on a 3 win team.
2. Trading Dexter Lawrence now probably doesn’t make sense. You’re trying to win, and he’s off his worst season of his career, I doubt you’ll get a haul.
3. Joe Schoen is a bad GM.
