@leesonTV I been watching the comments on my post chuckling, but I wanted to touch on this. Yeah, I make the same kinda jokes, but I became aware what you say, even to just yourself, matters. Self-depricate enough and your brain cannot tell the difference. Be careful, legitimately.

I only really do it jokingly - the whole thing about me being a "fossil" at 24 - which I understand doesn't really help with anything here, but it genuinely doesn't bother me because I know life goes on even if you feel like it's racing faster than anticipated

@RoyChiato @ThePapaMutt Shit like this is why I have to tell people to stop giving me their opinions, even just general ones, on stories in any kind of media. It's not that I don't value their opinions, but I've found that if I don't experience it for myself first, it colors my opinion too much.

Little long explanation coming in here. Firstly, ARR (FFXIV 2.0) is absolutely one of the weaker stories in the grand scheme of things. However, I think the biggest issue lies more in people constantly talking it down and especially hyping up later expansions. I'm absolutely guilty of this too as my favorite stories are Shadowbringers (5.0) and Endwalker (6.0). The issue is, a lot of new players get told and yelled at constantly, oh just put up with the slog that is ARR and you'll be fine, Heavensward (3.0) is really where the story picks up. I think this is a bit of an injustice to ARR's story though. I'm not saying ARR is perfect, but it definitely ramps up as it goes. Especially for newer players though, I think the negative side effect of being told how awesome these new stories are is the want to skip through so much to get to that "good stuff." Biggest recommendation is to take a breath and slow down while you're still in ARR. Enjoy the setting, the characters, and understand a lot of it is a lore / world building expansion, especially pre level 30. There's a ton of just - Go here, meet important world leader, go there, beat up random cult, etc. But when you read through dialogue, watch cutscenes and embrace the slow burn, it can be really rewarding, IMO. If it helps at all, I do think the last 15 or so levels, like level 35 and up for Main Story Quests are better paced and really start putting bigger pieces into play, and then it's just a fun time through. And further, FFXIV is still one story being told, each expansion a new chapter in a living world. ARR might feel slow now, but know the pay offs will be worth it as will be the relationships you form with the main cast of characters. We've been with these same characters for 15'ish years now, ahaha. Also if you need a lore dump, I got you. 💪

My journey with FF14 so far has been: Great community. Great crafting system. Super sick outfits and fashion. Lots to do. But MAN- the ARR story has got me SNORING! I'm very new into the game with chat, but I gotta get a coffee everytime I'm in a story scene. Is this normal? 🤔
