The obsession some people have with labeling actors as “tops” and “bottoms” says way more about the them than it does about the actors themselves. You’re reducing real people and their work to sexual roles, then acting like that’s a valid way to judge talent or masculinity when it's not.
When people say things like “GMMTV bottoms can top DMD bottoms” or “DMD feminises their bottoms,” they’re not making a critique they’re exposing how deeply they tie worth to rigid ideas of masculinity and dominance. It’s basically saying being softer or more expressive = less than, which is a pretty outdated mindset.
And the irony? The same people often complain that ZeeNunew “look too real.” and it made them loose interest? Like seriously? I mean if a pairing feels natural and emotionally convincing, that means the actors are doing their job well. But for some viewers, that breaks the fantasy they’ve built where everything is filtered through their own imagined dynamics or self-insert “y/n” scenarios.
That’s where the fetishization comes in. Instead of engaging with the story, characters, or performances, everything gets boiled down to who’s more “dominant” or who fits their idea of “manly” or who they can project themselves onto.
And yeah, that mindset often clashes with actors who don’t fit those narrow expectations especially those who are more feminine, soft, or fluid in expression.
As for the constant comparisons between gmmtv and Dmd it’s just unnecessary. They’re different companies with different styles, storytelling approaches, and artist management. Liking one doesn’t require tearing down the other. That superiority complex some fans have is honestly more exhausting than anything the actors themselves are doing.
At the end of the day, if someone can only engage with BL through rigid roles, power dynamics, and self-insert fantasies, that’s their limitation not a flaw in the actors or the shows.

"gmmtv bottoms can top dmd bottoms" "gmmtv bottoms are manlier than dmd bottoms" "dmd feminises their bottoms" OH MY GOD just say that everything for you is down to sex positions only! y'all never fail to make me realise most of the fandom is filled with straights & fetishizers
