I say this with every fiber of my being: Put your oxygen mask on first. Over the next two months, put together a self-care plan that will sustain you for the next four years (and beyond—that’s the beauty of this—it’s a win-win for you no matter what happens). Take a beat to journal out what you need to do to be ok (community, therapy, exercise, screaming, journaling, prayer, meditation, cupcakes, etc…). There are so many tools to help us get through this. We will get through this. And if you need grounding in what’s real - remember that these folks who elevated a rapist to the highest office while claiming to be Christians are f*cking hypocrites. They will try to gaslight you into thinking that they’re right and you’re wrong. They will try to make you doubt reality. They will try to pretend that your empathy is a weakness. It’s not.
