@GamingRct I had an old machine laying around with a roomy case. AM4 chipset Ryzen 5 5700X (super efficient) I tossed in 32GB GDDR4 and an RX 9060 XT 16GB bc it’s roughly in line with my PS5 Pro. Efficiency and affordability were my main goals. Any major upgrades will need a new board 😬

@ZTriggerDX What hardware did you go for it? High end? Mid? and did you leave room for future upgrading? (hopefully when the prices go down)

Today, I started the process of moving all my non-Nintendo gaming to Steam. No subscriptions, competent security, refunds, deep sales, demos galore, the best Early Access and now the Steam Controller make this an easy call.

@GamingRct Thanks man! I built a Steam Machine for it. Pretty excited. I’m running it in Big Picture for now but will install Steam OS sometime after they launch their box.

@kiwitalkz I’m no expert, but if devs really wanted their games to run well and have decent picture quality, they would just build the whole game around those things from the beginning. If something makes performance suffer… remove it 🤯

I'm skeptical that UE6 will be a magic wand that somehow makes games run better than UE5, why? Because most of the issues with games in UE5 running poorly aren't because of the engine. It's because devs prioritize content over optimisation. The video below explains it well.

I bought the deluxe editions of LEGO Batman and 007 First Light for $133 after taxes. They would be $171 on PS. If I hunt deals, I can move most key titles from my PS library over for maybe a couple hundred dollars. This is exciting.

@ZTriggerDX @Dreamboum Totally agreed, that's why Nintendo is working well with their 1st games despite being on weaker hardware. It's also why they're publishing games on a near monthly basis.

Every video games series on wikipedia is like this now: - 2001-2007: A game every single year - 2008-2015: A game every two to three years - 2016-2026: Absolutely fucking nothing outside of a failed mobile game

@RGT_85 Their stance is that there is no issue. I have no idea if that’s the truth, but Tim Sweeney said poor performance is the result of devs putting optimization off until the end of development instead of prioritizing it throughout. Either way, I bet this is addressed in UE6.

....So we gonna fix Unreal Engine 5 or we just moving on here?

@Nellzonex @Dreamboum I have a PC and a PS5 Pro, not because I want more detail, but because they made their games run terribly on the base consoles. I wish the bar would stop getting raised so my investments could actually get me better performance instead of being eaten up by arm hair.

@Nellzonex @Dreamboum 4K/60 has nothing to do with dev time. If anything, 4K/60 would be easier to achieve if they didn’t choke their games with needless details. I think this is their misunderstanding as well. Higher resolution doesn’t mean you need to fill it with more detail.
