@dutoitsmith @nagcoza Don’t get me wrong, I’m not pro thousands losing their jobs, but I do think previous Xbox higher ups went too far when they were buying up studios left right and centre. At least this way, some studios gain their independence back (1/2)

Following the massive layoffs in the Xbox camp recently, id Software took to social media to reassure the masses that they were staffed up enough to continue making great games. Now, Zenimax has done the same, saying ESO and the team behind it are still strong and capable.

@ZaImagine @nagcoza I agree, and I hope that Valve succeeds, and establishes this beyond a niche. It is only that the market conditions aren't ideal thanks to the DRAM situation to provide the best value. I would love to have a Steam Machine.

A blog post from Valve on Steam Machine stating "we hope to ship in 2026" had consumers worried that the RAM crisis would cause a delay for the product to launch sometime next year. However, Valve has recommitted to a 2026 launch, saying nothing has changed on their end.

@dutoitsmith @nagcoza factor, but User Experience could be there too. We’ve seen Valve fail at things before and it’s cool to see them keep trying. So I’m rooting for them. The Helix will more than likely be popular with or without the Steam Machine around 😅 (2/2)

@dutoitsmith @nagcoza I’m not sure how Helix will go about things, but if it’s heading how Xbox says it wants to go (ie, play any game anywhere) then I imagine Xbox will have more choice. Plus they’re integrating all the other stores into theirs slowly anyway. I think price will be the biggest (1/2)

@dutoitsmith @nagcoza Fair enough. Pricing will be crucial, but both these two devices are essentially going to be pre-built PCs now, and I feel like OS, UI and User Experience could also play a role here. I mean the Steam Deck isn’t necessarily the strongest handheld out there, but remains (1/2)

@nagcoza Two things here. Since the new Xbox might arrive in 2027, I don't think Valve want to compete against another console that might also be a PC that won't cost all that much more. Then also 2026 might turn out to be a paper launch. RAM is a bitch.
