What Is a Confidential Stablecoin? (And Why It's Not What You Think) "Confidential stablecoin" sounds technical, maybe even sketchy. It's actually one of the most important ideas in finance right now and most people have it completely wrong. Let me explain what it is, what it isn't, and why it matters  Every stablecoin transfer on a public chain today is completely visible: The amount sent The wallet balance before and after The timing The counterparty This is fine for some things. It's a disaster for business. Imagine your company's payroll processed on a public ledger. Every salary. Every contractor rate. Every KOL deal. Scraped, indexed, and searchable by anyone , including your competitors, your employees, and the press. That's the reality of onchain payments today. A confidential stablecoin solves this by encrypting amounts and balances while keeping addresses transparent at the same time You can still see that Wallet A sent something to Wallet B. You cannot see how much. That's the whole idea. Simple in concept, significant in impact. Some of you might be thinking "it's the same things as a Mixer"  A mixer pools funds together to obscure who sent what to whom. A confidential stablecoin keeps the sender and receiver fully visible , while the amount and other details stay private. Traceability is preserved. Surveillance is not. Think of it like your bank or Apple Pay. Your bank doesn't broadcast your transaction amounts publicly. Apple Pay doesn't tell the world what you just spent.
