Marner is actually proving exactly why fans became frustrated with him. Everybody knew he was a great player capable of so much, but he never performed when it mattered and refused any personal responsibility for it.

Do any of those idiots who think Mitch Marner played like this for the Leafs realize that if he did play like this for the Leafs, they would probably have won the Stanley Cup last year?

None of this matters if #he cant do this against the Avalanche. Unless he's hoisting the cup over his head a month from now this is nothing but a moral victory stunting on "Anaheim" and "Utah" at 11pm.

And the leafs offered him 13.5 mil x 8 years to stay. He said no and left for the pillow fight division

If your 2nd highest paid player was scoring less than half a point a game (and didn’t score a single goal past game 5 of a playoff series) you’d want him gone too. He may not have been the only problem, but he was a big one nonetheless

@ibamboozIe He had 63 points in 70 games with Toronto. Thats a better than Matthew’s, Nylander, Tavares, etc yet only Marner gets crap from you guys. Thanks for pushing him out!

@Camsquantch39 @ryanwhitney6 I agree it’s harder to move with a pregnant wife but he knew he wasnt gonna re-sign before last season even started. He should’ve pulled a Tkachuk and told the leafs so they could have worked harder on a trade

@ryanwhitney6 I loved the guy maybe now he can reach his full potential after showing what he can do; the Olympics and now this playoff Im happy for the guy, the way he was treated in toronto I wouldnt have wanted to resign either torontos mistake was not trading him sooner and getting more

@jtbourne I forgot he was an AC with the leafs til you mentioned it on the show. IMO his stint here as an AC and his relationship with the players should play just as much of a role, if not more, than this past season when determining if he’s the right HC for the leafs

@tozmoon911 @ConnorTheLeafs @BigHeadLeafs_ Yeah when he has other olympians and all stars with him, he performs. When he’s relied on to be THE guy, THE point producer, he can’t get it done late in series. In Vegas he doesn’t have to be THE guy. They already have a stacked forward core

Leafs losing a lot as you are seeing now with him doing well in Vegas, is a Leafs thing...not a Marner thing. Because all he does is clutch.

He did contribute. Of his 13 pts in the playoffs last year 10 of it was clutch. Just because you chase his validation with goals over points, that's on you not him.
He's great. The proof is he did it in 4Nations, Olymp & Vegas

I can do the same too. Marner in the lineup got the Leafs to the playoffs for 9 years. With him gone Leafs didn't make it.

Also how many goals? ZERO! For a guy making almost 11 million dollars, potting the occasional goal should be expected no matter how many assists he gets

Let's say Marner a playmaker sent 100 breakaways passes to Leafs and they missed them all in games 5, 6 and 7. How many points does Marner have in those games? 0 points.
