@nocontextmemes I was taught this in elementary school too, and then later argued with my middle school math teacher for hours and hours because they told me it wasn't true.

@BoringBiz_ The economy for people just starting in the workforce has imploded. The chance to make it now if you don't come from a well off middle class family is pretty small.

@Chronodendron You can download the kindle app on your computer, then download the book to it, then move it over to your kindle manually and it still works just fine.

I’m so upset… My Kindle is fifteen years old. It still works fine, and I want no other. I read a lot, and this is the only e-reader that doesn’t hurt my eyes. None of the new models have a screen that so perfectly mimics paper. And now Amazon is forcing me to buy a new one. 😡 I don’t need a touchscreen or sound, and I definitely don’t want adverts! 🤬 The timing couldn’t be worse either… I can’t afford it right now. ☹️ I guess I won’t be buying more ebooks for a while... I’ll just have to read the ones I already have.

🚨 do you understand what $25 billion in Mississippi actually means.. the poorest state in America.. $44,966 median income.. 28% of children in poverty.. and Amazon just chose it for data centers.. $25 billion for 2,000 jobs.. that's $12.5 million per job.. they didn't pick Mississippi to help Mississippi.. they picked it for the cheapest land.. cheapest power.. and the most desperate politicians willing to sign whatever Amazon put in front of them.. cotton plantations came for the cheap labor.. factories moved south for the no unions.. now data centers are coming for the cheap electricity and the tax breaks.. the product changes every generation.. the extraction doesn't

JUST IN: Amazon will invest $25,000,000,000.00 to build data centers in Mississippi.

@gotrice2024 My car gets washed when it gets rained on, or when I'm about to sell it. By that I mean, the rain washes it off, I am not doing the washing.

This man took his car to the self serve car wash to wash his car. A man approached him and offered to wash his car for him for $20 since he used to be a professional washer at a dealer. The man talks him down to about $10 and he agrees to do so. The man wasn’t sure about his method of cleaning, would you pay him $10 to clean your car like this?

This lady’s mom is washing her car in the rain with a mom to save money. That mop is not level, if she doesn’t hold it at the right angle, the plastic trims scrapes and scratches the car Not to mention it’s the same mop you use on the floor, she’s going to have swirl mark scratches all over it. She also doesn’t plan on rinsing it, she’s relying on rain water to save money, is this a smart way to do it, would you do this to save a few bucks?

Best Buy employees face was priceless Run in, grab item, go to register. He scans and asks “Phone number?” “Why?” I asked He did a triple take. “Uh, cuz most people have a cellphone number.” “Why do you need my number?” “For your receipt?” “Can I get a paper receipt? I don’t want my number sold to more scammers.” “Bruh, Best Buy won’t call you.” “Then you don’t need my number. Can I please pay and leave?” Socially conditioned to give up information that’s completely irrelevant except for monetization. So when you ask the question “why”, it’s so incredulous i might as well told him I was into midget robot burlesque

I'm trying to download this Chinese government super computer leak thingy. It's 10pb (10,000 Terabytes). However, my computer only has 10TB of storage. I went to Amazon and tried ordering some harddrives. The largest size available for bulk purchase was 12TB. They asked how many I needed, I said I needed about 834. My total price was $275,211.66 + tax and shipping. Then these jerks have the NERVE to say "OhhHh wE CanT MaiL yoU 834 12TB DrIveS" WHY IS AMAZON CENSORING ME? I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA

@losalfajores I have had 2 or 3 cases over the years that came with a little adapter plug so you could arrange the connectors to suit your motherboard and just had to plug in one thing. They are very rare though.

@HedgieMarkets I bet there's an API that will let you hook into that garage door opener so you can open it with your phone for free.

🦔Honda's 2026 Passport removed the physical garage door opener button from the mirror and replaced it with a subscription service through MyQ. To use it, owners need to install a MyQ receiver in their garage, connect it to their home router, and pay either $129 for three years or $179 for five years. Owners who want to retrofit the original Homelink mirror instead can buy the part separately from Honda for $170. The previous generation of the same car had the button included as standard. My Take The garage door button itself is minor. What it represents is a deliberate strategy that automakers have been refining for years, testing how much friction consumers will tolerate before pushing back, and the answer keeps moving in one direction. BMW started with heated seats. Now Honda is removing physical hardware that existed in the previous model and replacing it with an app ecosystem that requires a subscription, a new garage receiver, and a home router connection to replicate what a button did. A car is a one-time purchase and a subscription is recurring revenue that scales with your installed base, so every feature that can be moved behind a paywall improves margins without additional manufacturing cost. The problem is that buyers paid for a car that is now functionally worse than the one it replaced unless they pay again. The only thing that changes that calculation is enough buyers deciding it affects their purchase decision, and so far the evidence suggests most don't until it's their car. Hedgie🤗
