Urgent humanitarian appeal to govt of Pakistan: Afghan cancer and other critical patients are losing their lives because Pakistan visa restrictions are disrupting lifesaving treatment. I personally know two patients who died after they could not return to Islamabad to complete remaining session of chemotherapy/radiotherapy at Shifa International Hospital. Patients traveling legally for medical care should not suffer because of regional tensions or the actions of militant groups. پاکستان سے افغان مہاجرین کے انخلا کے عمل میں اس وقت زمینی سطح پر شدید مشکلات سامنے آ رہی ہیں۔ میں خود اس راستے پر موجود تھا اور وہاں افغان خاندانوں اور ٹرک ڈرائیورز سے بات ہوئی جنہوں نے بتایا کہ وہ کئی کئی ہفتوں سے مختلف ہائی ویز اور سرحدی پوائنٹس پر پھنسے ہوئے ہیں۔ان کے مطابق پاکستان کی طرف سے روانگی کے بعد قافلے آگے بڑھتے بڑھتے سرحدی علاقوں تک تو پہنچ جاتے ہیں لیکن افغانستان کی طرف چیکنگ پوائنٹس پر سختی اور سست رفتار عمل کے باعث دنوں نہیں بلکہ بعض اوقات ہفتوں تک انتظار کرنا پڑتا ہے۔ اس دوران گاڑیاں سڑک کنارے کھڑی رہتی ہیں، کھانے پینے اور بنیادی ضروریات کا شدید مسئلہ پیدا ہو جاتا ہے۔ متاثرہ افراد نے بتایا کہ اس پورے سفر میں ان پر مالی بوجھ بھی بہت بڑھ گیا ہے۔ صرف گاڑیوں کو کھڑا رکھنے، آگے پیچھے حرکت اور ایندھن کے اخراجات ہی اٹھارہ سے بیس ہزار روپے تک پہنچ چکے ہیں، جبکہ کئی خاندان ایسے بھی ہیں جن کے پاس روزمرہ خوراک تک کے پیسے ختم ہو چکے ہیں۔ کچھ لوگوں نے یہ بھی بتایا کہ راستے میں مختلف مقامات پر انہیں اضافی مشکلات کا سامنا کرنا پڑتا ہے، جس سے انخلا کا یہ عمل مزید سست اور پیچیدہ ہو جاتا ہے۔ ان مہاجرین کی جانب سے پاکستان اور افغانستان دونوں حکومتوں سے اپیل کی گئی ہے کہ اس عمل کو زیادہ منظم، تیز اور انسانی ہمدردی کی بنیاد پر آسان بنایا جائے تاکہ سرحدوں پر پھنسے ہوئے یہ خاندان مزید ذلت اور مشکلات کا شکار نہ ہوں۔ @moiafghanistan @MohsinnaqviC42
