In just five minutes, this short completely dismantles the standard sci-fi romance trope with a genuinely horrifying existential twist. What starts as a guy using a pocket-sized time machine to fix a bad conversation with a girl repeatedly takes a pitch-black turn when she reveals her doctorate in quantum mechanics. The realization that the machine doesn't actually rewind time—but instead kills the user and creates a clone in a parallel universe—is a masterclass in dark sci-fi writing. It’s tight, perfectly paced, and manages to deliver a better sci-fi concept in five minutes than most $100M Hollywood blockbusters achieve in two hours.
