Hello, we know waiting for a payment is stressful. When a payment gets made, it goes directly from the sending bank into the receiving bank without stopping at Zelle. This is because all payment processing is handled by the banks involved in the transaction. Zelle can’t access bank systems. For assistance, please contact your bank or credit union directly by calling the number on the back of your card. Their team can review your account activity.

@Zelle Hey Zelle. I'm having massive problems with your system for my small business. Been using it successfully for several years & now all of a sudden - as of January 12, 2026 it only gives us "standard" (1 to 3 day delivery) rather than "instant" (delivery in seconds). I've tried 3x with customer service reps at my bank, but they cannot help me. Not trying to put @Zelle on blast here. Honestly need your help.

Hello, thanks for reaching out to us regarding your payment. If a payment was sent to a phone number that is not connected to an active Zelle profile, then it will stay in pending for up to 14 days before being automatically returned to the sender. The sender can also contact their bank or credit union to have the pending payment cancelled and returned to them sooner. Once the payment is credited back to their account they can resend it with the appropriate information.
