@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint Nice. I’ve got some audible credits, I’ll have to see if he’s in there. I think one of my favorites is “He Walked the Americas”. Not by this guy but I appreciate the stories and that this archeologist took the time to document the oral traditions of these tribes.

@tattered_bible wishing violence and death against LDS members. It’s amazing the hateful things Christians will say about people who just believe differently to them.

@greatlakessaint @YostyTX I don’t believe in their leadership. However, don’t be surprised if someday in the future the LDS church has female “apostles.” 😳

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint I just went to the Community of Christ site. NGL, I felt a little guilty hitting “reject all” right out of the gate. From an influence perspective, I wonder if they’re better off just not using cookies. 🤔

"Mormon Doctrine by McConkie was not approved. It's not official." Here is “Mormon Doctrine” quoted in the correlated “Doctrines of the Gospel Student Manual” on the official LDS app / website currently. If it’s in an official church manual, does that make it true?

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint To me it does. Most JST edits add or clarify. This one flips Paul's message with a single word. The Church canonized JST excerpts it valued (JST Matthew) in the Pearl of Great Price. Romans 4:5 didn't make the cut. Apparently not good enough to publish.😉 RLDS in 1867 did.

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint I’m typically not a fan of all the “ai slop” videos. But I will have to watch them later this week. Thanks for suggesting.

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint The “gift and power of God" that Smith received by revelation could also be viewed as inverting Paul's message, a message Paul builds across three full chapters. Correct. That's not a literal translation issue, but perhaps a conflict in the “revelation.” Smith vs Paul? 😉

Hey Zelph, thanks for checking in. Can you think of any instance where Joseph claimed these were scholarly translations? I know he was learning and fascinated by the languages, I’ve just had the understanding that the ACTUAL translation process was by the gift and power of God.

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint I think Exodus 23:7 is about corrupt human judges, not grace. Paul knew that verse and still said "justifieth the ungodly." If the JST is revelation and not translation, we’re not recovering the original text, and us saying Smith got new info seems to invert Paul's message.

You’re the one going to after hour temple gigs, you tell me. 🤠 I ask in the sense of Jospeh and the Romans 4:5 translation. I’m not an apologist. I do like reading fair. But all that aside… my understanding of BofA, BofM, and JST is that they were done in the spirit of revelation, not translation. Romans 4:5 disagreeing with 2000 years of status quo isn’t surprising to me. The same is said for Genesis and the book of Moses. My understanding is that it’s in the spirit of aligning with Moses in Exodus 23:7.

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF My name is based on this. Perhaps it’s because I don’t typically always agree with all the LDS “YouTubers and content creator debaters” Also, just because I may not always agree with them, doesn’t mean I am not genuine and doesn’t mean I don’t like them. 🤓

You don’t come off harsh. I don’t feel threatened by your questions. Sometimes I find questions start in one place and then shift to another and It’s like watching a gish gallop in slow motion. I also think there might have been another Zelph account that was less than genuine. If that’s not your intent then I’m happy to chat.

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF It’s all good. 👍 No apologies needed. I understand it’s hard at times on X and other platforms to hear tone and reflection in our words. I also apologize if I came off too harsh. I’m sincere about my questions and enjoy studying “Mormonism” and am always researching.
