@YostyTX @greatlakessaint Like I said Josh Gehly makes the rounds on even the LDS podcasts.🤓
Now, I think Dan Vogel could refute much of this, but nonetheless it’s always fascinating studying and researching.

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint Nice. I’ve got some audible credits, I’ll have to see if he’s in there.
I think one of my favorites is “He Walked the Americas”. Not by this guy but I appreciate the stories and that this archeologist took the time to document the oral traditions of these tribes.
English

@tattered_bible wishing violence and death against LDS members.
It’s amazing the hateful things Christians will say about people who just believe differently to them.

English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint They have the Sidney Rigdon/William Bickerton lineage.

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint Didn’t they branch off into Canada? Was that Cowdry?
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint He is a nice guy.
His book has become quite popular with LDS researchers, even though he isn’t LDS.

English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint I don’t think I’ve seen him. Is he interesting?
English

@greatlakessaint @YostyTX I don’t believe in their leadership.
However, don’t be surprised if someday in the future the LDS church has female “apostles.” 😳

English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint Their 12 also have a testimony of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith.
Josh Gehly from their church is a frequent guest within the LDS “YouTubers” space.

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint I’m grateful they strive to emulate Christ. I e got bigger problems in life than other Christian denominations… creedal or not.
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint Maybe? Not with Hebrews 1:1 still printed.🤓
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint Or try another website.🤓
These 12 men claim to be modern day apostles too.

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint I just went to the Community of Christ site. NGL, I felt a little guilty hitting “reject all” right out of the gate. From an influence perspective, I wonder if they’re better off just not using cookies. 🤔
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint Hey look. They even like your preferred Bible translation (NRSVUE).😉

English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint Ah. It’s still in a study guide under the JST appendix.
Do RLDS put all JST inline vs study guide?
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint To me it does.
Most JST edits add or clarify. This one flips Paul's message with a single word.
The Church canonized JST excerpts it valued (JST Matthew) in the Pearl of Great Price.
Romans 4:5 didn't make the cut.
Apparently not good enough to publish.😉
RLDS in 1867 did.
English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint Does this verse stand out any differently than the rest of the verses in JST?
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint I’m typically not a fan of all the “ai slop” videos. But I will have to watch them later this week.
Thanks for suggesting.
English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint I was thinking about one of your comments this morning while watching some YouTube videos from a newer series. Have you seen these yet? The one on Joseph’s coat made me think of our chat yesterday.

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint The “gift and power of God" that Smith received by revelation could also be viewed as inverting Paul's message, a message Paul builds across three full chapters.
Correct. That's not a literal translation issue, but perhaps a conflict in the “revelation.”
Smith vs Paul? 😉
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint I think Exodus 23:7 is about corrupt human judges, not grace. Paul knew that verse and still said "justifieth the ungodly."
If the JST is revelation and not translation, we’re not recovering the original text, and us saying Smith got new info seems to invert Paul's message.
English

You’re the one going to after hour temple gigs, you tell me. 🤠
I ask in the sense of Jospeh and the Romans 4:5 translation. I’m not an apologist. I do like reading fair. But all that aside… my understanding of BofA, BofM, and JST is that they were done in the spirit of revelation, not translation. Romans 4:5 disagreeing with 2000 years of status quo isn’t surprising to me. The same is said for Genesis and the book of Moses.
My understanding is that it’s in the spirit of aligning with Moses in Exodus 23:7.
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF My name is based on this.
Perhaps it’s because I don’t typically always agree with all the LDS “YouTubers and content creator debaters”
Also, just because I may not always agree with them, doesn’t mean I am not genuine and doesn’t mean I don’t like them. 🤓

English

You don’t come off harsh. I don’t feel threatened by your questions. Sometimes I find questions start in one place and then shift to another and It’s like watching a gish gallop in slow motion. I also think there might have been another Zelph account that was less than genuine. If that’s not your intent then I’m happy to chat.
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint Yeah. I try to.
When was the last “revelation?”
English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint Do you believe in modern prophets and ongoing revelation?
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF I can agree on that.
Absolutely wasn’t praying out loud and definitely wasn’t praying to Moloch.
Thanks for making me smile! 😃
English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF I’ve never seen it. I dont think I’d have a problem but we’re only hearing one side of the story from an anon.
If you kneeled and started a prayer to moloch, asking you to leave would be appropriate.
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF It’s all good. 👍
No apologies needed.
I understand it’s hard at times on X and other platforms to hear tone and reflection in our words.
I also apologize if I came off too harsh.
I’m sincere about my questions and enjoy studying “Mormonism” and am always researching.
English

@ZelphBones @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF Thank you. I’m not offended. If you’re legitimately engaging then I’ll apologize.
English

@YostyTX @greatlakessaint @OaksDallinH @UchtdorfDF Alone, next to the little chair I was just sitting on.
After sitting in the chair, as I went to get up…I simply kneeled and prayed.
It’s all good. It’s been resolved now.
