Canada and Norway are building closer ties as Arctic partners. Good to sit down today with Norway’s Minister of Higher Education and Research, @sigrunaa We talked about how we can work together on innovation, Arctic research, and responsible AI — and where we can go further, together.

Canada is deeply saddened by the loss of life and the injuries resulting from the tragic accident at LaGuardia Airport in New York. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims, the passengers on board, and all those affected.

“This is Cactus 1549, hit birds. We’ve lost thrust in both engines. We’re turning back towards LaGuardia.” Those chilling words crackled over the radio on a freezing Thursday in January 2009. Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger had just taken off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport, heading for Charlotte, North Carolina. On board were 150 passengers and four crew members, all expecting a routine trip. But only two minutes into the flight, life changed for everyone on that Airbus A320. A large flock of Canada geese suddenly collided with the plane. The impact was massive. Both engines sucked in the birds and immediately shut down. Usually, if one engine fails, a plane can still fly. With both engines dead, the aircraft became a 150,000-pound glider falling out of the sky over one of the most crowded cities in the world. As the plane lost altitude, Sully and his co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, desperately tried to restart the engines. Nothing happened. The cockpit was filled with the smell of burning birds and the eerie silence of a plane with no power. Sullenberger looked out the window at the Manhattan skyline. The skyscrapers were getting closer, and the runways at LaGuardia were too far away. “We can’t do it,” Sully told the air traffic controller with a calm that defied the situation. “We’re gonna be in the Hudson.” The decision was made in seconds. At only 500 meters high, there was no time for a second choice. Sullenberger steered the massive jet toward the icy Hudson River. Inside the cabin, the flight attendants shouted the terrifying command: “Brace! Brace! Brace! Heads down! Stay down!” At 3:31 PM, just six minutes after takeoff, Sully performed a miracle. He managed to touch the plane down on the water at the perfect angle. If the nose had been too low, the plane would have flipped; if a wing had dipped, it would have ripped apart. Instead, the plane skipped across the water and stayed in one piece. “Evacuate! Evacuate!” the crew shouted. The water was freezing—about 2°C. Passengers scrambled out onto the wings and into emergency slides that doubled as rafts. As the cabin began to fill with the river’s icy flow, Sullenberger did not run for safety. He grabbed the passenger manifest and walked the length of the sinking plane twice. He checked every single seat and every restroom. “Is anyone there?” he called out into the dark, freezing cabin. Only after he was absolutely certain that all 150 passengers and his crew were off the plane did he finally step off. He was the very last person to leave the aircraft. Despite the sub-zero temperatures and the shock, every single person on Flight 1549 survived. It remains the most successful emergency water landing in aviation history. By ignoring the “what ifs” and focusing only on what he could control, Sullenberger turned a certain tragedy into a miracle. True leadership isn’t about giving orders; it is about staying calm in a crisis and being the last one to leave until everyone in your care is safe.

22 mars 1944. Paris, 84 avenue Foch.

Ryan Daigler - Exposing Narcissistic Abuse 🚩🚩
This behavior persists because most people don’t call it out. Not because they’re weak — but because they’re operating in good faith. They assume good intent, give the benefit of the doubt, and tell themselves it’s not a big deal. That decency gets exploited. Every unanswered message that goes unchallenged. Every time they’re late without consequence. Every piece of withheld information that gets silently absorbed. Each one teaches the narcissist the same lesson: this works. Keep going. Then someone comes along who sees it clearly and refuses to play along. They don’t attack. They don’t escalate. They simply decline to pretend the behavior is acceptable. And that is what offends the narcissist. Their system of quiet dominance just got interrupted. So they reframe it — your refusal to be disrespected becomes disrespect. Your boundary becomes aggression. And now they have the “excuse” they needed to drop all pretense and come at you openly.

Ryan Daigler - Exposing Narcissistic Abuse 🚩🚩
People who are highly narcissistic will often test or push people by making them accept small, repeated indignities — unanswered messages, chronic lateness, withheld information. Each one a quiet assertion of the same thing: I don’t have to respect you — until submission becomes the norm.
