KIPPRA, in collaboration with the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), officially launched the Kenya Country Economic Transformation Outlook (CETO) today at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi. The launch was presided over by Mr. James Maina, Director of Planning, Macroeconomic Planning and International Economic Partnerships, State Department for Economic Planning, who represented the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning. Also present were Dr. Eldah Onsomu, Acting Executive Director at KIPPRA; Ms. Brenda Chongo-Chanda, Head of Economic Management and Governance at ACET; and Dr. Macdonald Obudho, Director General of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), among other senior government officials and development partners. CETO provides critical insights into the country’s transformation journey, highlighting key trends, gaps, and opportunities for inclusive growth. The launch event presented the key findings of the study and served as a platform for dialogue with policymakers, development partners, private sector actors, and other stakeholders. The study is anchored in the DEPTH analytical framework developed by the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), which examines five core dimensions vital to structural transformation: Diversification, Export competitiveness, Productivity, Technological upgrading, and Human well-being (DEPTH). Importantly, the analysis is also approached through a gender lens. The report also presents an in-depth analysis of two sectors deemed particularly crucial to Kenya’s economic transformation: micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), manufacturing and the digital and innovation economy.
