Two different games with completely different art styles but OP has a point. They’re trying too hard to make WoW a cozy game for everyone and forgetting why people loved WoW so much in the first place. People enjoyed the darker gritty side of WoW.

WoW 2 is a crackpot theory made up by people who do not know how Video Games, let alone MMOs work.
The time it'd take to make WoW 2 in a way that matters would take so long, and take so much away from WoW going on in the interim, that it'd die long before completion.

Don't bash someone who enjoys the story experience just because YOU don't think it's great
Also don't bash people who want to skip to get to end game.
It's THEIR journey, peeps can choose the path that makes 'em happy.

@Alchemi_ @stefmadarts People can do what they want in whatever game they want when they pay for it. If they want to raid someone n ff14 then they are 100% allowed to and it takes nothing away from you if they do so. Sure wows msq isn’t as robust as before but not everything is for everyone

@MadderR3D1 For you they are, as it was for me. But I know people who like the theme/seen the fights and want to play those and not the story and that’s fine. It’s peoples time and money so they can play however they like. Some people just gpose and rp and never touch the story too

The 250 hours ARE the best MMO experience.
FFXIV is about the journey, not the destination, skipping is stupid because you're essentially paying to skip the part that the game is known for lol
Like easy mode for a souls like or a non scary mode for a horror game

It’s 2026, we are gonna be 6 expansions deep into FFXIV soon. Can we stop with the weird gatekeepy behavior if someone doesn’t want to play through 250 hours of story to be able to play some of the best MMO raid encounters ever made? Heaven forbid someone asks you a small lore question if they start getting interested in the story after starting the game 10 years late. Are we really gonna keep driving people away with this weird NIMBY ritual? Just use your social skills (lol) and answer the small question, suggest they start a story alt on their downtime, or direct them to a synopsis video on YouTube. Crying about “story skippers” this deep into a game’s development cycle is peak cringe. If they set up a skip to Dawntrail for new characters to jump into the new story arc I and many others feel like it would be beneficial for the game’s long term health. While the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc is great storytelling it’s also not a sacred cow for people to clutch pearls over. At the end of the day, it’s a game to be played. We’re all better than this and should start acting like it.

@stefmadarts Well the 400 hours of story that a lot of raids are that are tied to. Content either needs to be locked behind level or hard locked to story, shouldn’t have to buy a story AND level skip to be able to do that.

@Warcraft Yeah no, you either need to have better internal QA or a serious shift behind the scenes. If you was an indie company or low funded could excuse it, but as someone who pays the expac and a subscription quality needs to be MUCH higher than what’s being delivered atm.

So far I actually think I preferred even Shadowlands writing to Midnight.
I thought Metzen would make WoW feel like Warcraft again but idk...
It's cool if you like it though 100% just means I'm not the target audience anymore which is fine.

For the next WoW expansion I want to see conflict everywhere. I want us to lose completely and watch the world tear itself apart because we failed to protect and save it.
