✝️🇦🇲 The Balyan family was a prominent #Armenian #Christian family of #architects in the Ottoman Empire, originating from the province of Kayseri, and produced nine consecutive generations of craftsmen. The Balyan family developed a unique architectural style by blending Europe's Baroque and imperial styles with Oriental ornamental style. Apart from passing down their knowledge and experience from one generation to another, the Balyan family succeeded in modernizing themselves and ensuring they were not forgotten. The first prominent "Palace Architect" from the Balyan family was Kirkor (Krikor) Amira Balyan (1764–1831). Kirkor began his career as a mason and rose to become the first major "Palace Architect" (Hassa Mimarı) in the family. Among his notable works are repairs and additions to Topkapı Palace, the Sarayburnu Palace, several imperial mosques (such as Nusretiye Mosque), and fountains in Constantinople. He also built the first Balyan family mansion in Beşiktaş. Kirkor established the tradition of transmitting architectural knowledge from father to son, laying the foundation for the family’s dominance in Ottoman imperial architecture for nearly a century. Senekerim Balyan (1768–1833) – Brother of Kirkor and co-founder of the family’s architectural legacy. He collaborated on several imperial projects, including repairs to Topkapı Palace and the construction of the Beyazıt Fire Tower. Garabet (Garabed) Amira Balyan (1800–1866) — Son of Kirkor. He was active in Armenian community educational and administrative affairs and conducted research on Armenian architecture. One of his early works was the Armenian Hospital in Yedikule. His most important achievement is the Dolmabahçe Palace, which he designed and built together with his son Nigoğos; it is considered one of the finest 19th-century palaces in the world. Nigoğos (Nigoğayos) Balyan (1826–1858) — Eldest son of Garabet. He co-designed the Dolmabahçe Palace with his father and contributed to the original Çırağan Palace (later rebuilt) as well as other projects such as the Ihlamur Pavilion. Hagop (Agop) Balyan (1838–1875) — Son of Garabet and brother of Nigoğos and Sarkis. He designed the Küçüksu Palace (Göksu Pavilion) and the Ihlamur Pavilion. Sarkis Balyan (1835–1899) was the most outstanding figure of his generation. His notable works include the rebuilt Çırağan Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace, the Valide Sultan Kiosk, and many other imperial buildings. He had broad interests in the fine arts, supported Armenian writers, musicians, and theater actors, and served as a member of the Armenian Patriarchate’s Assembly. Sarkis was not only a brilliant architect but also a gifted engineer and inventor. He developed and patented innovative mechanical devices, including a rotative steam engine and a non-explosive sectional boiler. These inventions earned international recognition, including an award at the London International Exhibition in 1862, and helped modernize construction techniques in the empire. He was granted high titles, including Chief Architect of the State.

ELON MUSK: Earth is Tiny. The Future is Space. Human civilization uses only a tiny fraction of the Sun’s energy. Even if humanity used a million times more energy, it would still be extremely small compared to the Sun’s power. The Sun dominates the solar system, holding around 99.8% of its total mass. Everything outside the Sun is almost insignificant when measured against the Sun’s scale and energy. Earth-based civilization has a natural limit because our planet’s resources are small compared to what exists in space. To grow civilization in a truly meaningful way, humanity has to expand beyond Earth. Space is not optional for long-term growth — it is the next step for civilization.

Pêşmergelerin Sovyet askerleriyle o tarihi buluşma anı, "Adiyabîn" isimli dizi filmde böyle canlandırılmıştı: "Me şerê sê welatan kir" (Üç ülkeyle savaştık)...
