@SINKAI_TEPESH @drakanous I can't speak to the second point because I'd already stopped caring by that point, but you're right on the first. People like me that would write detailed, well-meaning, critiques of the game to try and improve it gave up and stopped caring because it never achieved anything.

@drakanous The only reason it's the "biggest" complaint is because most people who had legitimate actionable critiques were driven out by either the draconian FFXIV community or the lying from SE over DT. Almost half of what was promised at this expansion Fanfest was a lie.

I think the state of #FFXIV is in a good spot when the biggest critique (that I've heard recently, anyway) is rewards. The content is going in a great direction. So what kind of rewards does everyone want? Personally I'd like them to focus on this scalable content then put more resources towards a variety of gear. Or even reexamine what gearing should look like. Especially once they hit Savage difficulties, they should at least give out Savage level gear.

@vivilotl I used to often run dungeons with a SAM friend and if the tank was too slow I just healed my friend through double pulls. Dungeons are so undertuned that if you're competent enough, tanks are completely optional. And it's a lot more fun.

it's so funny when people have this mentality about ffxiv because it just means you're a shit tank player fun fact, intentionally letting your party die because "they pulled so they have to tank it" is a reportable offense

It's interesting seeing the reactions of people that haven't been around as long when the surprise of them officially coming back still feels somewhat fresh to me.

Maybe this is showing my age, but this isn't the first time Lucrezia has disbanded. They were one of the top dogs in ARR, then disbanded. Came back, dominated UCoB, disappeared again and didn't come back for ages. In my mind they have been inactive more than they've been active.

Well, we reached the goal. I've been talking to people, and I've got the beginnings of a support crew in the making. I've been advised that waiting until the Summer heat goes away is the best move, so we're looking at May/June. Might be the first live-streamed 100km run?

@Sebbywebz Growing up, new mainline Final Fantasy releases were a Really Big Deal with palpable hype around them. They were an expected masterpiece. It's just not the case anymore these days and everyone should be able to see that, whether you like them or not.

There is an attempt to rebrand Final Fantasy XVI like it's some misunderstood masterpiece. It's not. Here's why: 1) Its combat is insulting to OG FF fans: -It sends the message: "You don't matter anymore. We want a different audience. We still want your money though, so we called it Final Fantasy" 2) Its story is a bloated mess: -You could cut the entire the Desert segment, and nothing of value would be lost -There is a Main Quest where Clive goes to the shops to buy garlic. I am not making this up -It plays like an MMO, full of low-stakes quests to pad out Subscription Time. This makes no sense, because you can only buy the game once 3) It wastes its best character 1/3rd into the story: -No one cares that this was for "Clive's development". All it did was the develop the story into a more boring one -To add insult to injury, the game then slaps you with "5 Years Later..." 4) Its idea of "mature writing" is to drop the F bomb every 30 seconds: -Swearing is fine when a script is well-written. But FF16 tries too hard to prove that Final Fantasy can be "badass". As a result, it reads like teen fan fiction It's not a "misunderstood masterpiece" - it's just not that good. It has some strong spectacle (Titan & Bahamut boss fights), but these moments are drowned in an ocean of boring scenes. There's a reason it only sold 22,000 copies on Xbox in its first week. There's a reason it has not 1, but 2 DLCs - and nobody knows or cares At the end of the day, the only crowd it appeals to are the people who will buy literally anything with the "Final Fantasy" name on it It will not stand the test of time. It already hasn't #FF16 #FinalFantasy #FFXVI

@Sebbywebz If you want the thing you like to continue producing more things you like, you should want it to be successful.

@Sebbywebz I could say a lot of things about the game, but my most mild take is this: fans of the series should want the game to be better. Burying your heads in the sand over its flaws is a disservice to yourself. Fine if you like it, but don't pretend people that don't are straight wrong.
