On June 17, the PCAOB hosted its second in-person workshop to assist small firms with the implementation of QC 1000, A Firm’s System of Quality Control. Following a successful first workshop in May in Washington, DC, the PCAOB connected with accounting professionals in Irving, TX on best practices for implementing the new standard. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with PCAOB staff and participate in hands-on activities around practical implementation of QC 1000, which goes into effect on December 15, 2025. In a new @RegStudies working paper, Xiaohan Ma @TexasTech and I present a new text-based measure of regulatory uncertainty around oil and gas production in the U.S. and show that increased uncertainty has negative effects on oil production and aggregate economic outcomes.
